The female toilets are disgraceful. Dirty, stuffy and smelly, and in desperate need of modernisation. Why is there a mirror in the cubicle? God help you if you have to use it late in the day. Really poor form and should be renovated ASAP.nnThe staff are kind and are clearly frustrated and empathetic when they don't get told any information about why a service has been cancelled - it's not their fault.nnThe stairs can get ridiculously packed, which can be a bit dangerous. It's quite rare and it's the fault of poor planning by train operators or delays.nnI like the architecture and the little cabins you can go in when it's cold, especially the one on Platform 2.
Seems well run and with decent facilities, but a bit run down and in need of some tlc- the waiting rooms were closed and there was a bit of a grotty feel to the place. On the plus side it has good signage, okay toilets and a water refill station. Plus the little Costa in the station looked nice, but closed at 5pm on Sundays which feels a bit early for a city centre station.
I recently visited this train station and was pleasantly surprised. The station is clean and well-maintained, with plenty of seating and helpful staff. The train schedules are easy to follow and the trains run frequently, making it easy to get around. The station has a variety of amenities, including shops, restaurants, and restrooms, which is great for long waits. The only downside is that the station can get crowded during peak hours, so be prepared to navigate through crowds. Overall, I had a great experience and would highly recommend this station to anyone looking for a convenient and comfortable way to travel.
A very busy station that feels like it is crying out for a refurbishment. In its current form, it feels quite unloved and not very well looked after. The platforms are too narrow for the number of people cramming onto them, particularly at rush hour. It's also not easy to navigate during rush hour due to the sheer number of people, and lack of visible signage blocked by people or just not enough of it?
Ticket office person that I purchased ticket from told me to go to the wrong platform for manchester airport - so I ended up getting wrong train that was going to a different direction. Train staff said it happens all the time.
