The place was nice. Good atmosphere and a decent selection of whiskey. The tables were a bit too close together with no shields and the menu that we were given was picked from a table already in use and given to use without sanitizing. That aside, I liked it. Felt like sitting in a bar with a lot of character with friendly folk.
Nice place with a weird history to its name! Bartender/general manager was lovely and chatty. Drinks were nice and average priced. Great location in Grassmarket. Worth a visit!
Food and company were fantastic! Fish and chips were the best I've ever had and the Scottish coffee was a great way to top off the meal.
Nice little pub. Even with limited space, all covid rules followed. Shame we were not ready to eat as the food being served smelled great. I feel sorry for small businesses like this. I bet it would normally be packed
The story of Maggie is devastating however it has a happy ending...it gives an hope to everyboby! She lived in that house for real, it’s worth a stop however we weren’t very pleased by the food. It is a bit expencive for what you get...I have to say! Have a beer instead and cheers to Maggie :
A pub with wonderful charm. Great bunch behind the bar. Fabulous pub and I have now fallen in love with the lass with the Geordie/Mackem accent . Wonderful host.
Can't recommend. Ordered burger and fries - burger king is way better. Had to ask for almost everything - napkin, ketchup and mayonnaise.. and now i've got stomach problems. Thank you, not.
Nice place, historically it represents Maggie Dicksons the woman who survived hanging in Edinburgh.
First time in here would definitely go back
Great detailing to the place and loved the cheese garlic bread specially. Also, the story behind the origin of the name of the place Maggie Dickson is super fascinating
