A quirky Tearoom in the heart of the beautifully, historic City of Chester.

Story

Mad Hatters is located at the beautiful, 350 year old rectory on Bridge Street Row. We have a gorgeous menu of locally sourced homemade dishes which includes light lunches, 'elevenses' and our house specialty, Afternoon Tea.

We have a wide variety of freshly baked cakes and offer these to take away too. We also offer cupcake towers, celebration and wedding cakes, macaron towers and also individual favours to help you celebrate that special occassion in a huge variety of flavours!

We can accomodate large groups if booked in advance, and can also offer exclusive function room or full venue hire. Come and see us or contact us by phone or email for a whole list of things we can offer, from tea parties with Burlesque to business conferences!

Awesome food. Friendly staff. Lots of vegan options, including cupcakes. So so yummy. Vegan chilli was spot on and the soup (sweet potato and butternut squash) was fantastic. Overall a great experience and definitely going back soon!! Comfortable atmosphere and fancy decor

Fab! Loved the indoor decorations and it was a birthday treat so had the set afternoon tea- sandwich selection, scones, a cake of your selection, and a drink of your selection! Would definitely go again, loved it! (Not 5 stars because I felt there was too much sweet stuff to savoury but that's my own preference) 😁

Was celebrating a friends big birthday. Loved the venue. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much. A member of our party was vegetarian and omitted to mention. This was not a problem at all for Mad Hatters and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Thank you. Will definitely return and recommend. XX

Absolutely fabulous, never been before but will definitely be going again. Our daughter bought us vouchers for Xmas to have afternoon tea the service was amazing the food was the same. I have dietary conditions so can only eat sourdough bread which is hard to get in most places but it was no problem for them, I could not rate them highly enough.

A little gem. Tricky to find, as it's on the first floor at the end of a street, but worth it! The cakes were to die for. Someone has a passion for baking and tastes with a twist. The scones were freshly baked, and topped off with a perfect cuppa. Reasonably priced, and dog friendly too! What's not to like?
