Coming with my wife & niece from Malaysia, which I participated a cycling event started from Debden. And we are first time in UK too. Earlier plan to rent a car for my wife & niece, whilst I will be cycling from Heathrow airport but Google review shows positive review on Loughton Self Drive. Have some doubt at beginning because usually travellers or tourists will take more “reputable” rental car service like Avis, Hertz, etc; but I was totally wrong. Initiated communication via email and the support and info given by the person name Lewis is very quick in response. Upon arrival at Debden and went to Loughton Self Drive, we were greeted by Nicky and Steve. Both are very2 nice and helpful. Explanation and information given are very detail.And they’re very kind too. Car given very clean and superb condition. Returning back the car also straight forward, no hassle. If I return back to Loughton next time and need a car definitely will use this service again. No regret!

Been using LSD since 2018. I use LSD mainly as back up/ support for my business which is vehicle dependent. The reliability, customer service & flexibility has been faultless… they’ve got me out of a pickle a few times when my vans have broken down.

First time driving a Luton van. Receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Van was super clean and drove really nicely. No hassle dropping the van back either. Definitely hire again from here if needed

Cannot recommend Loughton Self Drive enough. The really helped me out when I got into a bit of a situation where I needed the van back after already dropping the keys off in the deposit box. They swiftly sent someone out to open the box and lend me the keys again. This was on a Saturday night when the yard was shut and locked. Saved me a load of headaches, proper customer service!

Hired a small van and returned it with a small dint and scratch. Was quoted £480 for the damage so told them we’d get it repaired ourselves as received much cheaper quotes outside. When we told them this we were told we would have to pay £65 to hire the van to get it to the repair place plus another £30 for their sticker to be added on which they said could only be added by themselves as it was the sticker was their property. Absolute joke of a place, avoid.  They clearly know what they’re doing as either way we are still paying out almost £500 to them. If we hadn’t have paid £10 for the excess waiver to be cut down to £500 from £1000 they’d probably have quoted us £980 for the damage.

Great company. Have hired a van a couple of times from them. Super friendly, helpful, van always clean and ready, simple to drop off too.

I hired a longwheeled based transit. The vehicle was checked along with myself, All I can say is the staff are so open and friendly,  they treated me as if they've always known me. The vehicle I hired was a clean, and well presented. If anyone within the Essex area are looking to hire a small van up to a tail life and / or a pick up, the Loughton Self Drive is your place. Forget the others, as you are just a number, here you are a person. Brilliant service. Well done... Thanks Gerry
