Wonderful Sunday roast here. Great selection available and food top quality. Serving staff also friendly and attentive. Only criticism for the owners or management is please get rid of the "You have to leave your card behind the bar" rule, it's the only pub/restaurant I've come across that does this and make it feel awkward having this in place. Surely have it as any other place where you pay at the end. Just a thought.
Brilliant Sunday roast. Friendly professional staff working very hard non stop. Menu improved and quality of food is top quality. A good selection of drinks at the bar and price is reasonable. Definitely we'll be returning.
I recently visited The Lopes Arms and overall, I had a positive experience. The atmosphere was lovely, it had a very welcoming and family-friendly vibe to it. The decor was simple yet cozy, and it made for a comfortable and relaxing dining experience. One of the highlights of my visit was the carvery. It was delicious, the meat was cooked to perfection and the gravy was rich and flavorful. The side dishes complemented the meal nicely and the portion was good for a regular eater, but not enough for someone who is a big eater. However, the only downside was that for the price, I did come out still feeling a bit hungry. I would recommend trying the carvery, but be aware that it may not be enough to fully satisfy a big appetite. In summary, The Lopes Arms provides a great family atmosphere, delicious carvery and friendly service. However, if you have a big appetite, you may want to consider ordering an extra dish or two.
Just so happened to be in the area and decided to call in before the hours drive home. It was £60 for two meals, a starter, a side, and 4 pints which I thought was a steal giving the size of portions. The lady who was working was so kind in reading out all the flavours of ciders when I forgot my glasses and couldn't read them and the young man working was so lovely when I went to order my meal. All in all, the food was 5*, the staff were 5* and honestly I'm glad I don't live close or I'd have to be online buying all new clothes because I'd outgrow my current ones in 3 days.
One thing you cannot fault here is the food. The brisket roast was to die for and so tender it fell apart so easily. Ide highly recommended the pigs in blankets and any extras you can afford, you won't regret it. If you're looking for a good hearty roast, look no further. The only thing that let this meal down was the wait time. I'm almost certain we were forgotten for a good hour before someone noticed and starters arrived. I'm assuming this isn't a regular occurrence because other tables around us definitely got multiple courses within this time. Regardless, I'll be back. I can't say no to that brisket.
Ad a lunch meet here and it was great. Staff friendly and food was very good. Good prices too for 3 of us. Food & drinks: Good quality food quite generously proportioned, with competitive pricing. Menu selection was good.
Great place. Met up with a friend and the bar staff were amazing. Cheryl was very friendly and helpful indeed. Would happily return there again. Great to be in a friendly pub environment again.
Only visited to purchase some vouchers for a gift as my parents love it there they are relatively local, but the menu looks great and the lady Heidi who served me, was absolutely lovely!
First time coming here as recently moved to the area. Lovely food, friendly service. Will definitely be coming here again.
Travelled down to Plymouth to attend a funeral and stayed in the Lopes Arms for one night. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful on the phone when we booked and they called us the morning we were due to check everything was okay and still as planned. On arrival the bar staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms are themed and my wife and I had the Monkey room while my two sons shared the Duck room. Both rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean and themed accordingly. I would definitely stay with them again.
