We recently had the most wonderful experience celebrating our friends' wedding on the Llangollen Railway! It was a truly unique way to share their special day, and the Llangollen Railway made everything run smoothly and beautifully.nnWhile there wasn't a steam train operating on the day, the diesel train had its own charm. It brought back a nostalgic feeling of childhood train rides, and the rhythmic rumble added to the ambience of the day. The best part? The scenery! The Dee Valley unfolded before us as we chugged along, offering breathtaking views of mountains, rivers, and valleys.nnThe wedding ceremony itself was intimate and heartfelt, held at Llangollen Station. The staff were fantastic, making sure everything was just right for the happy couple. After the vows, we all boarded the train for a celebratory ride. The carriages were clean and comfortable, and the atmosphere was electric with joy. It was a fantastic way to continue the festivities and take in the stunning Welsh countryside.nnThis wasn't just a train ride; it was a unique and unforgettable experience. The Llangollen Railway provided the perfect setting for our friends' special day, and we can't recommend them highly enough. If you're looking for a romantic and memorable way to celebrate a wedding or simply enjoy a scenic train ride through Wales, look no further than the Llangollen Railway!
A nice train ride along a pretty river. We thought it was a steam train ride, but it was diesel. We did see the steam train separately. The seats weren't very comfortable and facing the wrong way. You have to get there early to get the seats facing front as it gets busy. The volunteers were very friendly & polite.
Beautiful place, gave me harry potter vibe. You can find books related to railway outside the gate for dead cheap price of 1 pound. The platform was clean and well maintained.
A jewel in the railway preservation crown. Located in the centre of the historic town of Llangollen, the railway follows the river Dee for 10 miles through what can only be described as stunningly picturesque countryside and villages until it reaches the town of Corwen.nnThe railway itself is looked after and maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers. Each of the stations, carriages and trains painstakingly restored to bring back to life the history of a bygone era.nnParking is within the town with all day parking costing approximately £4.00. During busy periods, car parking is limited, however a larger car park is located a little further out of the town near to the Pavilion, which is a 5/10 minute walk.nnWe chose to purchase a day rover ticket at £29.00 each, allowing us to travel all day and get on and off at the different stops, to either walk across the chain bridge, have lunch in Corwen or grab a drink in Carrog. If you choose a standard return, allow for a good couple of hours.nnThere are events run throughout the season with a variety of different engines, a mixage of steam and diesel locomotives. Recommend checking online before visiting, as steam trains doesn’t run every weekend.
A great adventure, aboard an old world steam train, Corwen is a beautiful little country hill town full of history.
