Living Coasts is a zoo and aquarium located on Torquay harbourside, South Devon. Home to otters, seals, penguins, octopus, puffer fish, wading birds...
Torquay's coastal zoo and aquarium, Living Coasts, as well as being a conservation and education charity, is also a unique, all weather visitor attraction. Located on the harbourside, not only does the site offer breath taking views across Torbay but is also an amazing environment to get up close to the animals.
Penguin Beach is home to African and macaroni penguins. All the penguins are free to roam and frequently walk amongst the visitors. You can also see them swimming in the panoramic viewing area. It is also possible to see seals and tufted puffins swimming underwater.
Even an estuary has been recreated, allowing you to get up close to wading birds.
The mangrove section of Living Coasts is a habitat that is home to over 20 species of fish, including rays, archer fish and the amazing four-eyed fish.
There is also Octopus Odyssey, the opportunity to come face to face with a life size great white shark animated model, and plenty of arts and crafts activities for children to get involved in.
The Café @ Living Coasts features breath taking views across Torbay, and there is also the Tradewinds gift shop which stocks a wide range of ethical gifts and souvenirs, including Fairtrade jewellery and local art.
