A lovely place in a quiet village; beautifully maintained. Very helpful team, when I had a mechanical problem. Great circular walk along the river then back through the woods above the site. A great thrill, after a couple of miles walking, to look down on the site and spot your own rig. This was our last stop in Scotland and we loved it.
Campsite is within walking distance to the village. Warm welcome and well laid out facilities. I camped £15pp. Be aware there is a rookery full of nesting birds that are extremely noisy into the night and before first light, which makes sleeping rather difficult. This was in middle of May. Walkability: Loet riverside amble nearby
I had a wonderful time here. I received a warm welcome. The staff and other guests were friendly and helpful. The facilities were clean and comfortable. The landscape was stunning and vast. It was very easy to find a secluded spot. My time here was very peaceful.Rooms: 5/5
This was our second time visiting this site. Very warm welcome from the owners who are really friendly and helpful. Immaculately clean facilities…they have thought of everything. It’s a great set up. We just can’t fault the place. Will definitely be going back very soon. Thanks for a lovely stay! Nearby activities: Mountain biking
Pitches are big and spacious, staff friendly and very helpful, saw other reviews that said WiFi was terrible, well believe me it isn't, we had 3 devices running at the same time and there was no lag, oh and we were at the far end of the site. So a big thumbs up from us and we will be seeing you again Nearby activities: 7stanes mtb nearby Walkability: Plenty of local walks nearby, see staff for booklet.
We stayed at Lidalia recently while visiting relatives in Newcastleton. It's a fantastic site, meticulously kept by the owners, Gillian and Shona. Newcastleton is a great little place with quite a few options for eating out for a small village and there are lots of local walking routes available. It's also a great place to base yourself when exploring the Border countryside. Rooms: The pitches are wide and flat, with plenty space between outfits. EHU posts at every pitch and the pitches at the Southern end have TV points. The toilet blocks are immaculate, with lovely hot showers and laundry facilities. Nearby activities: Lots of lovely walking, flat and hills. There's fishing on the Liddle river that runs to the East side of the village. Lots of mountain biking trails too. Walkability: Newcastleton itself is pretty flat, so you don't need to be super fit to get some lovely walks. Lots of hill walks available too though. Food & drinks: The Copshaw Kitchen is just around the corner from the site and does anything between coffee/tea and lovely cakes to a full Sunday Lunch. There's also the Olive Tree on the South side of the village and the Grapes Hotel does food as well.
Really lovely site. Friendly site managers that make you feel welcome. It really is beautiful.
This is an excellent site the ladies that run it are excellent, very friendly and if we’re in the area again we will definitely stay there. It’s also extremely disabled friendly. It has an independent disabled toilet which has good access. The site is clean and tidy, also toilets are extremely clean and tidy pitches are of a good size and there is excellent dog, walking facilities offsite. I would recommend this to anybody. The only issue I had with this site was that there is no O2 reception and you are relying on their Wi-Fi which can get very overcrowded at times, but if you want a quiet place to go to with some lovely countryside round it, this is a place to go.
Lovely caravan site, family run and in great condition. Last time we visited was about 18 years ago and its excellent nowLocation: 4/5
Good place in pristine, oddly soulless village which has the BEST Scotch pies one entire universe....@ Elliott's the butchers. Do go there...even if it's miles out of your way!!
