Lee Valley is a relatively convenient to get to place in London to ride for reasonable prices, and they have a wide range of lessons. The instructors have all knowledgeable and bring different insights to a lesson, so I have learned a range of pointers from different instructors. The ponies and horses are also lovely, and i really like they get to be turned out and spend time in a field instead of just living in their stall. The very big negative point is that it is nearly impossible to get through on the phone. If you want to book private lessons you need to call them directly or be there in person, it’s not possible to book online or over email. I have tried calling multiple times across the same day and left voicemails, but I don’t get a callback. This is a consistent problem and I have been there in person seeing the phone ring and the receptionist ignoring it the receptionist was not talking to another person at the time the phone was ringing. I think it is a huge pity that the system has not been improved and no changes have been made despite months of complaints.
I cannot praise this school enough. A very welcoming environment and the level of knowledge is second to none. The front of house team have always been so lovely to me, and to anyone I bring with me to my lessons, and very approcable. They always call me back when I send 20 emails sorry haha My favourite instructor is Severia, she is so knowledgeable, approachable and an all around lovely person. She pushes to get the best out of you in every lesson. I cannot wait for my niece to start learning with her. She has genuinely given me so much confidence and encouragement. This school should be proud to have such an outstanding instructor. She is a credit to this company. The people here are all wonderful, Billie and Farrah are also so brilliant, and Vicki is an absolute diamond. I feel so comfortable here. Great school!
The best place you can learn and enjoy horse riding in London! I usually join Kerrie’s beginner class, I improved and had more and more confidence : if you are interested in learning horse riding and love horses, just try! Strongly recommend x
My seven year old son, who is very gentle and loves horses, wanted to try the have a pony for a day experience. He was the only little boy and the smallest, in a group of about nine children. He was repeatedly ignored and unsupported throughout the day. At one point I had to step in a remind them he was waiting to be put on his horse as they just left him standing there. I realise now the stables, the experiences and the lessons are for little, white, blond girls and not for boys of any age. This is such a shame. I realise it will be mostly girls who want to participate but why not make the few boys who want to join feel welcome instead of uncomfortable. Inevitable we need to find another riding school.
DO NOT COME HERE - DISCRIMINATION & FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY I recently had an incredibly disappointing and distressing experience with Lea Valley Riding Centre, which I feel compelled to share. As a person of colour and a Muslim woman who wears a hijab, I was shocked and saddened by the discriminatory treatment I received. Upon arrival, I was the only person singled out and asked to weigh myself in a public space. This was not only humiliating but also deeply distressing, especially as the scale displayed an incorrect weight, leading to my exclusion from the activity. Despite being within the weight limit, I was denied access, leaving me feeling embarrassed and singled out. This incident was not just a policy issue but a clear act of discrimination against me as a Muslim woman of colour. No one else in my group was subjected to such treatment, making the situation even more discriminatory and isolating. It's clear from other reviews below that this is not an isolated incident; several customers have highlighted similar experiences of mistreatment and discrimination at this establishment. Moreover, it seems evident that LVRIDING does not consider people of colour as their main target audience, which results in neglect and mistreatment. This lack of inclusivity is deeply troubling and suggests a systemic issue within their organisation. I contacted LVRIDING over a month ago to address this issue. My complaint was "forwarded to management," but I have yet to receive any meaningful response or resolution. It seems the management does not take these concerns seriously, which only adds to the sense of being disregarded and disrespected. This experience was not only discriminatory but felt fraudulent, as the company failed to deliver the service I paid for under false pretences. Discrimination and exclusion have no place in any business, and LVRIDING urgently needs to address and rectify their policies and practices. I will also be reporting this to consumer protection agencies, as there is clear dishonesty and fraudulent activity involved. I strongly urge potential customers to consider these issues before choosing to support LVRIDING.
Took a private lesson with Isis, and it's been terrific! She is an amazing teacher, her instructions helped me improve my riding immediately, and the way she explains things is easy to understand and actionable. It was quite intense, but effective. The stable itself is clean, bright, orderly and the horses look content and are curious. Will absolutely go back and take more lessons.
Great place to get acquainted with horses and basic rules of horse riding. The trainers were great, so were the horses hello Cashmere!. I will most likely sign up for a few more lessons to feel more secure in the saddle. Nice place to take a walk and just observe.
I booked a birthday party at Lee vally horse centre back in November last year for my daughters birthday. The birthday package I choose was the mini pony petting & ride. Unfortunately the experience I had with the centre was not great, the party room and riding room was really dirty filled with dust and hair. I felt everything was rushed, as part of the package it says that there is suppose to be fancy dress up and party games which didn't happen at all. I am still so disappointed as its alot of money you pay for this package, I'm just able to type a review at this present time without getting emotionally upset and angry. Will never waste my money again. Ps- The lady that host the party event looked and acted like she didn't want to be there I would put her picture up along with this review as she is in some of the pictures we took with the horse but I'm not going to.
Good facilities. Teachers and staff generally helpful. I hate that I have to leave a bad review but it is mostly down to the booking process. We spend approximately £200-250 a month on lessons but sometimes spend a week or more trying to get through on the phone! Other times when I finally get through I'm told that they're only taking bookings for one week. There's no set time for when the next bookings will open so "try again next week". I have been using the riding centre for a year and a half but would consider moving on at this point.
I've ridden at quite a number of different riding centres and the quality of the horses and instructors at Lee Valley Riding Centre absolutely stand out. The yard is also always tidy and most importantly the horses seem to be very well looked after.PositiveQuality, Professionalism, Value
