This place knows how to make a sandwich. The meat was so flavorful and overall the sandwich was amazing. That said, their prices are outrageous even if everything is super homemade. $17 for one sandwich with no sides is tough in this economy. Their menu is also extremely limited, so don’t come here if you have a picky eater or want variety. But if you want a killer sandwich and have the $$, this is the place. There is some seating inside, although it fills out quickly.
An amazing deli and that’s coming from someone that lives in NYC! They make everything from scratch and offer up creative selections, some you wouldn’t expect at a deli. Tried the pastrami Reuben and the Thai peanut salad, it hit the spot, meat was tender and fresh as were the veggies. Jeremy and Allie, thanks so much for your hospitality and recommendation’s upon my first visit to Cleveland, will definitely be back!
Not really a “delicatessen” when the only sandwiches are pastrami, pastrami Reuben and fried chicken. Way too limited and way too expensive. $7.00 for French fries? I got the pastrami and it was good. But for $17, you need to have more meat. I’ll be back to try the fried chicken sando and some desserts especially the rugelach.Food: 3/5
I ordered the $25 fish dinner for lunch which was carp and smelt. I never tried carp before so I figured I'd give it a shot. I opened the box to find out it was filled with French fries and slaw with just a few pieces of fish. I couldn't believe I just paid $25 for that!! I mean they are catching the carp a few hundred yards away and they couldn't put even half a fish in there? It was more like a $12 appetizer. Very disappointing.
A Cleveland staple that doesn’t disappoint. An open air spot in an old firehouse with a lot of interesting decor. The fried chicken sandwich was great but the pastrami stole the show. Smoked to perfection and combined with extremely fresh ingredients to create the perfect sandwich The only thing that knocked it down was the “pickle sampler” that was way over saturated in the vinegar. Otherwise great spot.
My sister and I went here for dinner. I got latke and matzo ball soup. My sister ordered brussel sprouts and a Reuben sandwich. My latke was very good! I liked the little crispies on top. It seems like every restaurant that I go to, that has matzo ball soup, has their own way to make it. This restaurant had a matzo ball that was like wet rye bread. It was good, but I'm not a rye bread fan. My sister really liked her sandwich! The corn beef was very tender and had good flavor. The brussel sprouts were pickled, so they tasted like big pickles. They were good, too. The service was very nice, but the food was expensive for what you get. If you are in the mood for something different, this is a good place to go!
I don’t know what happened in the last 2 years or so, but the pastrami isn’t good. It’s not flavorful anymore. The sides aren’t that good either. This used to be my favorite place but the pastrami sandwich is just overloaded with horseradish. My nose literally burns every time I try to like it again. I haven’t been happy for a while now coming here even with the fried chicken sandwiches. I hope the new marketplace will be better to make my own sandwiches but everything is so incredibly bland now. You barely get any pastrami at all for the price. The sandwiches used to be absolutely loaded. My bread was stale last time too. Best Gyro’s is so much better in my opinion and that’s saying a lot. I tried to give this place multiple chances and it just doesn’t hit the spot. At least you get what you’re paying for at Mabel’s, Martha on the Fly, Sauce the City, I could go on. I’d rather go to Cleveland bagel company or herb n twine. You’ve lost my business.
Believe the hype! The food, service, and atmosphere are amazing. We like the sandwiches- especially pastrami, baked goods homemade poptarts on Friday, pickles, and any homemade bread they have.Food: 5/5
Nice lunch spot, shared seating in the middle or can accommodate a large group. The staff are polite and respectful! The food is great! I enjoy the patio for the puppies! Cool vibe including fire poles! A cool country style interior design that is complimented with a hearty meal!
The worst pastrami sandwich I’ve ever had. It was 70 percent burnt ash, 30 percent fat. The bread was stained black by the strips of burnt fat. I’m experiencing an awful stomach ache, I feel ill. The fries were so badly oversalted they were also inedible. Extremely disappointing. Be warned. There are many reviews here also referencing the poor quality in pastrami. Don’t flush your hard earned money down the toilet like I did.
