It was a family dinner on Mother's Day Sunday. This restaurant is old, cozy in Tudor-style. It is very old and I would not recommend it for people taller than 175 cm as you can hurt your head, and certainly not a good place to get drunk. We were seated on top at a table in the middle of the hall, people and waiters with hot food walked behind me all the time and I did not feel safe. Drinks were good. We got starter but we had to wait quite a long time for the main course. You will probably understand how annoying it is when the waiter brings food to people who arrived later than you. All food was very tasty and well prepared. The plates were red hot and I really don't understand why the plates should be heated to such an extent, because it's dangerous for both staff and guests. At the same time, ice is added to cold drinks during the cold season. All that can be obtained from the union of ice and fire is cracks in the enamel of the teeth. The price for drinks and 2 courses of dinner without dessert for 4 persons was £160 Personally, I think this restaurant will have a great atmosphere for Halloween.
Simply excellent. Had the lunchtime menu consisting of an exceptionally nice soup, generous rump steak and a superb desert. All for £25 plus a £3.50 steak surcharge. Steak was so tasty I'm feeling hungry again writing this. Been a couple of years ago, will be going again sooner. Parking: Parking in Stratford is not easy, but the Park and Ride is frequent, quick and cheap.
During a recent visit, we dined at both The Vintner and Lambs. Based on the menu similarly, I suspect both have the same owner. The Vintner was very good, but Lambs showed why it is a Michelin starred restaurant. The attention to detail was excellent, some of the best food we have tried in a long time. Scallops, Lamb and Chocolate Mousse were all the clear winners! Would definitely recommend it!
Second time we have been, another great experience. Food was lovely, I had the Gressingham Duck, which was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing, my wife had sea bass, which she thoroughly enjoyed!! Prices are reasonable too...would definitely recommend. Really good espresso martinis too!
Loved it,quiet at first then within half hour was full, turning people away who hadn't booked.great choice on the menu, loved it, spicy duck starter was excellent. Definitely will return.btw, staff were brilliant, very knowledgeable.
Just had lunch at Lambs. My husband & I randomly chose the pub when having a wander in Stratford and thank goodness we did. We had the roast lamb and it was sensational, cooked perfectly and immensely tasty, the sides were equally delicious. One of the best roast lunches I’ve ever had. The service matched the eating experience, the waitress was very welcoming & friendly and professional. I would highly recommend a Sunday lunch, just fantastic.
Visited here in half term during a trip to Stratford. They were busy but service was not affected. The lunch is great value for money and the Cajun chicken was excellent. There was a good cheese board on offer with quince jelly. Last visited on 2012 and can say that it has lost none of its character and ability to produce great food!
Celebrated my birthday here and I must say we all had great time. Food was outstanding and atmosphere was pleasant. Taken 1 star out due to service not meeting expectations and not many items of vegetarian food in the menu. Will return again.Recommended dishesHalloumi with Tomato, Herb-Crusted Rack of English Lamb with Dauphinoise Potato Mustard Green Beans and Rosemary Jus, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Pan-Fried King Prawns with Nduja Paste and Garlic Butter Served with Toasted Bread
I Recently visited lambs and it was fantastic food. The service was good too. Not intrusive but there when you wanted it . It was late in the evening when we ate we like to eat late but the standard was still consistent . I had a Halloumi starter with capers which was tasty and the lamb cutlets where lovely, served pink as they should be, however the red wine jus really needed to reduce down further to get some more taste in, and the dauphonise potatoes were good if, a little dry, overdone on the top but still very nice. The dessert, a pear and almond sponge was very nice and light, the only thing was the pastry tasted a little soft, as though it had been warmed in a microwave. However these are all minor details and the food, ambience and service made a great visit and the pricing was reasonable. Would definitely go again. Well done. Happy customer.
Everything was delicious! We had the salt cod fritters for starters, then the sea bream with a nice tangy twist and the calf's liver melted in my mouth like butter and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The service was very friendly and efficient. The food arrived very quickly. And it's just wonderful to sit underneath all those crooked woodbeams.
