King's Head Pub and Theatre

About

Legendary Upper Street Pub. We've got real ales, British charcuterie & cheese, live music 'till late and Wednesday Pub Quiz!.

Story

Welcome to the King’s Head Theatre Pub! Located on the trendy and eclectic Upper Street in Islington we are best known for being the first theatre pub since Shakespearean times when the theatre was founded in 1970.

But while we are famous for our theatre in the back, at this Victorian pub our customers also enjoy great drinks in front of a roaring fire, see the images of the world’s famous stage faces and listen to some of the best live music Islington has to offer.

We serve a ‘British-tapas’ style menu of artisan cheeses and charcuterie, in addition to some cracking bar snacks perfect to take into the theatre.

We are open 7 days a week with a Wednesday pub quiz from 8:30pm and live music every Thursday to Sunday night starting from 9.30pm/10pm.With a late license until 2am on Friday & Saturday nights.

Please check our website for the latest gig listings.

I visit the Kings Head Theatre regularly and am never disappointed. The work they do is exceptional, admirable and most importantly entertaining. Staff are also very friendly and attentive. Last night I saw the opera Carmen which gets 5 stars from me! Looking forward to seeing their next opera in only a few weeks time!
I really miss popping in here for a quick afternoon pint when I'm on Upper Street; friendly staff, cosy atmosphere and great pics on the walls of the great and good that've preformed there - including Kermit the frog!
Came here for the second time in two years for the annual "Pantomine" holiday show. Super funny, lively and a healthy dose of audience involvement. One of the best theater experiences I've found in New York or London
Nice old pub but expensive drinks I thought 14.50 for a pint and a meduim wine. They need to be a bit snappier with the table service. Still.. nice vibe and drinks were good.
Great pub with friendly staff and excellent tunes thanks Becky!. Very cosy vibe and easily accessible from Angel or Highbury and Islington tube stations. Love the log fire too!
Splendid venue full of good staff and good selection of beers. There's live music and plenty of order from. You should definitely check it out
The interior and the atmosphere are incredible. It's fun, bohemian and cozy at the same time. A gorgeous dog was welcoming us, I don't know if it's a custom, but meeting him or her? was also a pleasure
First up, brilliant people behind the bar. Great beer and a great atmosphere. Theatre pictures all over the walls. The place is fantastic. Again, made by the terrific people behind the bar. Thank you
