I recently celebrated my 40th birthday here. The food was great, the vibe relaxed and the service was exceptional! I highly recommend using their private dining room if you have an event / celebration. The process of booking was really straight forward with lots of food options to choose from. My flowers were beautifully arranged and and the timing of the courses was perfect. We were looked after by Louis during the evening and he was a total super star and made sure everything went smoothly! Thanks so much for making it such a great night!
The Drapers Arms Islington Classy looking pale blue frontage, carefully distressed and minimalist indoors. The bright green bar is a bit of an anomaly. Interesting selection of lesser known beers. Also wine on taps though. There's a blackboard listing a selection of cocktails at around £10-£14. ‍ I like the Drapers, it's definitely clutter free which is sometimes a good way to calm a busy mind. A little more decoration wouldn't hurt as the place is very pale blue inside too. Otherwise I guess it lets the conversation, food and drink do the talking. There appeared to be one comfortable sofa on my visit.
The portion sizes at this establishment are noticeably smaller than one might anticipate, particularly when factoring in the prices listed on the menu, which tend to lean toward the upper end of the dining spectrum. As you peruse the extensive menu, brimming with a variety of enticing dishes—each one seemingly promising a culinary adventure—the anticipation builds with every choice you consider. However, when your selected dish finally arrives at the table, the sight of a plate that appears scant in quantity can be quite disheartening. With the premium prices comes a natural expectation for a more generous serving, and the stark contrast between the cost and the portion size can create a lingering sense of disappointment that unfortunately overshadows the overall meal experience. Yet, it is crucial to shine a light on the exceptional quality of service provided by the staff, which truly sets this establishment apart from its peers. From the moment you walk through the inviting entrance, each member of the team exudes warmth and friendliness, creating an enveloping atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. Their attentiveness is impressive; they frequently check in with guests, ensuring that every need is met with a genuine smile. Whether it’s promptly refilling your drink, offering insightful recommendations, or addressing special dietary requests, their dedication to your comfort elevates the overall dining experience significantly, helping to ease some of the discomfort regarding portion sizes. Furthermore, the staff's ability to engage with diners adds a personal touch that makes you feel valued and appreciated. The conversations are not merely transactional; they are genuine and heartfelt. The staff remembers repeat customers' favorite dishes and offers sincere compliments, showcasing impressive attention to detail. This level of hospitality transforms what could have been a lackluster dining experience into one that is truly enjoyable. Ultimately, while the food itself may leave something to be desired regarding quantity, the outstanding hospitality provided by the team compensates for this deficit in numerous ways. The staff’s unwavering commitment to fostering a welcoming environment elevates your visit, clearly demonstrating that this establishment values its patrons immensely. The harmonious blend of delightful service and high-quality culinary offerings creates a unique dining experience that is well worth partaking in, even if the plates may not always be as full as one might hope. It’s an experience that reminds diners that sometimes, the heart of a meal lies as much in the company and care as it does in the food itself.
Really good roast, split the lamb & chicken between 6 people and was definitely enough food! Lamb was really tender and tasted great, the chicken was a bit dry, which was a shame. Potatoes were perfect, always key to a good roast. Good service and atmosphere, would recommend although make sure you order your Yorkshires separately!Food: 4/5
A nice place in Islington for Sunday Roast. The food was very good, but like everything in London will run you $80 a person for a complete meal, Starter, drinks dessert etc.. Service was ok, no smiles and we were forgotten a few times. The place is very well designed and quaint.Food: 4/5
5 starts from me for the feast we had today! Very good value for money here. Had a whole chicken with many trimmings , two drinks , sparkling water, two starters and paid just £50/person with service included. And the most important is that food was actually very nice. Only downside for me is that they allow pets inside and some customers didn’t pay attention to their their dogs which were messing around with other guests and barking.
Ordered the roast beef and pork Sunday roast - aged sirloin and yokrshire pudding were not bad but potatoes are disappointing.
A charming big pub with amazing food and an even better wine list ask for better glassware if you understand the wine. Food was absolutely stunning, I was too amazed that I forgot to take the photos of other food. The pub was packed with people , but the staff managed it without any problems. Wouldn't be a good place for people who don't like a bit of noise. It can be a bit hard for people to understand when talking to someone. But other than that, a big recommendation.
What a lovely pub! The Draper's Arms is sweet, convivial and earthy. A bit shabby chic, last coat of paint a few weeks ago, love it. High ceilings and airy. A great environment. The service is exemplary. Just the one real on but tasting good I am told. My Freedom lager is great, a great visit. A most delightful place.Service: 5/5
The Drapers Arms is absolutely gorgeous pub but I don’t think I’ve ever felt so uncomfortable. The team behind the bar are pleasant enough and the IPA offerings were good but the clientele is uber snooty WPC, with absolutely no manners. It’s such a shame because pubs should be a welcoming place for everyone.Service: 4/5
