If you like your air temperature scorching, and your swimming pool temperature the absolute opposite, have i got the place for you. Even with apparent new air vent things in pool area, its always very very warm.nnTbf, it's a swimming pool, the waterslide seems to work these days, the showers mostly work and I haven’t seen a cockroach in the changing rooms for a good couple of years. The building and infrastructure is very old and they're doing a decent job keeping it going until a new centre is finally approved and built.nnThe sports halls do the job, for badminton, or roller discos, and the gym looks ok, not that ive used, as im lazy. The Staff ive spoken to have always been helpful and friendly.nnIts rough round the edges and looks a monstrosity in terms of architecture from outside but overall, decent.
The king Alfred Leisure Centre has exhibited significant management issues, raising concerns about cleanliness and overall operational standards. Additionally, the managerial conduct has been described as disruptive and overbearing, undermining the professional atmosphere of the establishment. The facility's condition is particularly alarming given its use by schools, reflecting poorly on its suitability for accommodating such clientele. Furthermore, attempts to address these issues through social media were met with censorship, epitomising a concerning lack of transparency and accountability within the management. Because of this experience, the decision has been made by me to avoid using the services of Freedom Leisure in the future. Furthermore, the encounter with a staff member was marred by a perceived lack of adherence to standard customer service protocols, further contributing to the unfavourable impression of the establishment and its operations. Even more seriously, they breached my data protection rights, breaching the GDPR Data Protection Regulations. I hope Freedom Leisure doesn't take over the new King Alfred Leisure Centre.
A lifeguard called ‘Harry’ told two small girls aged around 7-9 that they couldn’t go on the slide due to the fact that one of them went down and the other stood on the steps, I thought that this was aloud as I saw three people going up there at once. They later got kicked off the slide and could no longer go on it. Then one of the girls was swimming and happened to ‘splash’ someone by accident, then harry went up to them and told them that they have to leave the building. I thought this was ridiculous as you can’t not splash when swimming. Another man was sliding down the slide and crashed at the bottom due to its poor conditions, later on he had to get medical help. I’m writing this review to warn people about the staff and the state of the place. It wasn’t clean and the staff were horrible. Don’t go to this swimming pool if you’re looking to have a nice day out.
It is winter, cold outside. I went with my child to that swimming pool hoping we will chill and relax in warm water but water there was freezing. I understand that british people have different standarts and they don't feel cold but water there is unacceptable. I'm not gonna say about higene there cause I don't wanna complain it is not my style to complain. Sorry but I had to say about water cause I'm in big shock.
The hygiene standards at Freedom Leisure Centres are subpar, and the staff seem to lack adequate training, displaying a general lack of engagement and assistance. The condition of Portslade Sports Centre is particularly concerning, implying a significant management issue. It is my hope that when the new sports centre is established, the Brighton and Hove Council carefully considers the suitability of granting Freedom Leisure the license to operate it. Staff member was rude to me causing be to complain and cancel my membership, resulting in Freedom Leisure attempting to smear me and blacken my name and refusing my request to cancel my membership but instead banning me so as to save face and make themselves look good. I've had the manager of King Alfred Leisure Centre lie about me in order to save his reputation. South Downs Leisure on the other hand seem to be friendly, efficient and well trained, even welcoming me using my name, something King Alfred never do, they don't even look up and only speak to you to tell you it's time up. Don't use King Alfred Leisure Centre at all is my advise. Not unless someone else takes it over. Terrible management!
