Very poor service, went in with pain, breathing problem and other medical issue to vist the practice but was refused by Dr Perry after running 10 min late for my appointment due to heavy traffic on the road in birmingham. After trying to call the practice to inform them about the reason for running late, it was impossible to get through because I was number 43 in the queue. On arrival, the receptionist contacted this Dr at 9;11 am. to ask if I could still get seen. It took 20 minutes before I got a response, while in pain with breathing problems, to say I cannot be seeing to because he/she is fully booked, with an empty surgery with about 5 of us there, some of whom was called in by dietician, nurse and other doctors from my observations. I felt like I was neglected because of the conditions I was in. I am not saying it is okay to turn up late for an appointment because very rarely does this happen, but there can be some kind of exceptional some time. Instead of turning away someone in pain and breathing problems.
Karis Medical Centre was my GP surgery for a number of years. Unfortunately I had skin cancer and it wasn't diagnosed by a male GP who still works there. I saw him on at least two or three occasions as I had a small scabby wound on my chest. I didn't know what it was and neither did he. Instead of sending me to a dermatologist the GP gave me some cream. When it didn't clear up I'm sure he gave me more cream in the hope it would heal. I foolishly trusted the doctor and left the scabby wound for too long. I eventually saw an excellent GP in Erdington who referred me to the dermatology dept. at Good Hope Hospital, though I was warned that it would take some time to be seen. I didn't want anymore delays so I saw a dermatologist at a private hospital - at my expense - and it was immediately recognized that I had a Basel cell carcinoma BCC on my chest. I eventually had it removed, through the NHS, though I now have a painful unsightly scar on my chest. I have since had three more BCCs removed that have been noticed early enough to be removed without my needing an operation. The moral of the story: be careful when trusting doctors. They're not infallible; they make mistakes and can be just as lackadaisical and foolish as the Hoi polloi.
I and my 3 children. have been with this centre for I've 25yrs. I have had no reason in the past. to find a negative word to say regarding the running or the doctors.. the doctor's and staff have always been professional and very helpful .. the call back service works well in my opinion keep up the good work.
Can,t recommend their service anybody. I had a gastric problems by last 12 months and I telling them several times during a visits. I suggest them to check myself and looking for H Pylori. They took my blood and stool samples and did not found anything and not recommended me anything else to that. After another visit with same scenario I did by my way tests on that in a private clinic and check my stool in HPylori test kit. I get a positive results in a both and hopefully they start fight with that and perscribe me antibiotics I came back to MC. Specific 44 pages blood results was ignoring and again I had to give blood test instead to send me on a gastroscope exam. They did not trusted me about a stool sample and took again to check in their labs. Again did not found anything. I had to pay for a gastrospy in a private clinic and they found a lot of H pylori bacteria and light inflammation. I get a pills for that and had to pay full price for that. I came back to a Kaaris again and I told them about everything. I did not get any advice. Doctor with a lot of practice couldn’t tell me anything about that. I just get a few useless words about a diet. Horrible experience. Now I suffer depress and nobody get consequences for waste my last long months of my life. I still has a problem with my stomach but never again will not trust these unprofessional peoples over there. Hopefully nobody has a same experience like me and I never again cross paths with these guys.
A Big Thank You to dr Richard My apologies for not writing the doctor's family name but it was his first name that the receptionist mentioned. I was initially booked for over the phone appointment and was later seen by the doctor in a face to face appointment relating to an earache continuing for a few days now. Timely and professional service at the Practice! THANK YOU!
I had a blood test yesterday and it was the most painful blood test I ever had in my life. The needle injected was absolutely sharp or injected sharply without caring. After the blood test, my hand bruised badly. I do blood test every few months in QE hospital and it never happened.
I cannot fault Karis. The team have always been helpful, empathetic and willing to help in times of need. I am certain they are under considerable pressure, however the clinical and admin staff approach patient care very professionally and I always feel I have been listened to. Thank you Karis!
Short queue but very long waiting time for the receptionist to pick up the call. It took more than 20 mins from position #1 on queue to get the phone answered. The receptionist was rude and impatient. When asked for clarification, the receptionist just hung up. The entire conversation was less than 1 mins.
It took me six days to have GP appointment, the lady at the reception was absolutely kind to me. First time to meet GP in UK, Dr Turner did everything step by step and said the kind words as a good doctor should be, he examined my leg in pain carefully , asked me relevant questions tenderly and comforted me that it wouldn’t be difficult to recover. I will be transferred to specialist to have further examination and treatment . Satisfied and grateful.
Most doctors and nurses are very nice, but the reception staff requires substantial training and needs to do their job properly. Phoned them a couple of times, waited until the queue of number 3 or 2, and then the queue stopped and no body answered the phone at all. Waste of time.
