We were a party of 3 and had 2 rooms. Spend one night at the hotel, thank god. The sewage stench in first room was unbearable. No way was we going to spend a night in that room. The bed was uncomfortable and the heating didn't work, and it was a very cold night. But a heater was provided, rather than another room. We raised our concerns on checkout but felt it wasn't worth our time. After all it was only one night. Won't be staying there again. Location is probably the only thing going for it.
My partner and I recently stayed at Leonardo's Hotel, Bradford for three nights from new year's eve. The experience was one that left much room for improvement and one where I seriously question whether or not I'd stay there again.nn1. Despite paying for a superior package which should have included extras such as daily free bottles of water, biscuits and one daily illy coffee for each guest during our stay, we had to ask for these on two days out of the three we were there. Whilst the hotel reception staff did eventually provide these when requested and evidence displayed from our booking details, the staff appeared not to be familiar with the package. Given the superior package is more expensive than the standard package, the consistent missing extras was not acceptable.n2. Despite it being a festive period, where the late leaving of the room should not be usual, we were twice interrupted by housekeeping just before 10am - which is before the 11am checkout time. Having stayed in a number of hotels of equivalent star rating and even lower, I was surprised to find out that the window for housekeeping was a ludicrous 9am to 5pm - even for guests staying multiple nights. The many hotels that I have stayed in, usually start housekeeping either at the official checkout time, or earlier only when the guest has checked out early. On informing the housekeeping to come back later, we were told that it wasn't possible. On one out of the two occasions, housekeeping added that they had to clean other rooms.n3. The cleaning of the rooms that was completed was cursory. Whilst towels were replaced, bins emptied and the duvet barely tucked into the bed, simple cleaning such as wiping the desk down, running a hoover over the floor appeared not to be completed based on the stickiness of the desk and particles on the floor.n4. The voucher that we purchased for one day of breakfast and one of our coffee entitlement vouchers were questioned, in spite of all of the vouchers being legitimately purchased breakfast, and issued by the front desk. They were ultimately honoured but it was embarrassing to have to present our case for something we had paid for.n5. Breakfast was not good. The scrambled eggs were super dried up. The bacon tasted odd and the fruit selection was very limited and could not be described as fresh. Having travelled from another northern city where we had stayed at the Hampton at Hilton and had a far superior complimentary breakfast, the offering by Leonardo's was really poor and very expensive for £13. It definitely was not worth it.n6. Instructions on how to operate the heating in the room are incorrect. On requesting help to activate the heating, we were advised by the member of staff who offered help to ignore the instructions stuck on the wall and that they were incorrect. This is a poor image for the hotel where despite knowing things are wrong, simple actions to correct the issue are not applied. I.e., replace the incorrect instructions or certainly do not leave them on display.nnThe only positives of the stay were reception staff were pleasant enough but unfortunately they were fighting a difficult battle with what appears to be insufficient training. Additionally there appears to perhaps not be enough staff on duty with the one serving staff acting singularly to cover breakfast on the day we choose to take breakfast at the hotel.nnFor an unbelievably 4 star hotel, the quality and standards experienced during our stay do not match the description
Great hotel for the theatre and restaurants all very close to the hotel. Staff very pleasant and really helpful with a barman with a great personality and for whom nothing is too much trouble. Rooms absolutely spotless and well appointed. It would have been 5 stars but for the limited bar and restaurant opening times. Parking is at the NCP next door, a 30 seconds walk away and is £10 for 24 hours, really nice hotel and would definitely return
Our initial impression of this hotel was that we'd entered Fawlty Towers. We arrived the same time as a coach party. Even though we were the front of the queue the guy on the desk decided to serve the coach party first! Whilst waiting another guest came to reception to complain that that was the second room he was given that was already occupied later we spoke to other guests who had also been given occupied rooms.nAfter finally being served we went to our room to find, surprise, surprise, that that too was occupied! We were given another, unoccupied, room but we were left wondering whether another guest might be given our room whilst we were out and whether our possessions were safe.nThe room itself was nice, the beds were comfortable, although some of the pillows were old and lumpy and need replacing. The bathroom was clean and the water pressure in the shower was good. The public areas were clean and the bar and dining areas looked nice even though we didn't use them.nAfter the initial frustrations we ultimately enjoyed our stay which is why I've given 4 stars instead of 3.
I've stayed in this hotel quite a few times and always enjoy my stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are a good size and equipped with everything you need with very comfortable beds.nnThe tea and coffee in rooms are a little sparse and could do with being replenished with an easier system than having to down to reception to ask for these things .nDefinitely recommend staying here.
