I took my car in for an oil change. They overfilled it by 1 litre. The engine capacity is about 4 litre, so this represents a very considerable overfill which could have led to engine damage. Having paid over £100 for an oil change I jacked the car up and drained the extra litre myself to make the car safe to drive. I wrote to complain and was met with an unsatisfactory response. I have yet to receive a refund. Needless to say, I oil changes myself nowadays...

Absolutely brilliant... customer service was amazing, helpful, they look after you VERY well and explain the current stage of your car's service whilst waiting. Friendly staff. 100% best experiences.

Either a fraud, or grossly incompetent. I bought an old car which the previous owner was servicing with Johnson's Honda Oxford for several years. I went there for a MOT and paid about 300 pounds for a complete check. They told me that brake discs need changing, which was a big surprise given that 2 months before that they told the previous owner the discs were good. When I questioned this, they were surprised that I know the car history, and that the car was serviced with them before (apparently for the money I paid they did not even check if there is a record in their system). After looking in a computer thy claimed it was a borderline case, which I had to believe as I didn't have the old reports at hand. When I checked them later, I saw that the 2-month old report said the discs were 80%, while my report (after 500 miles) said 30%. When I complained over a phone, they told me that the 2-month old report was just a visual inspection, and this is why it was imprecise. I was not happy about them providing 50% error margin, and asked for a manager so that I can fill in a complaint. The manager called me later, and said that the old reported numbers "were clearly an error", but he did not even say sorry. I also pointed out other things that were wrong in their work (they wanted to charge me for examining why a dashboard warning light is on, even though this has been a problem that was with the car for 2 years, and the car even passed an MOT in their branch with this problem). The manager immediately dismissed this complaint, without even checking, and said they have no record of the warning light being on in the past. I later looked through the documents and it was included in their MOT report from last year. Finally, the car did not pass the emissions test and they wanted to charge me 1500 for fixing this. After losing my trust in them, I took the car to a different garage, where it passed straight away (in particular, no problem with the brakes or emissions).

In spite of asking of my radio system to be reconnected my request was ignored and a horrible fragrance was introduced into my car while valeting it at the end of an MOT and service for some bewildering reason which must be a new policy as they've never done that before. On my service booking I was asked to drive an automatic loan car which I refused which necessitated rebooking all over again. My worry is a lot of assumptions are being carried out without checking first with the customer and not enough close listening is being done. Service since I bought my car 3 years ago has certainly deteriorated.
