Good service, location good for city centre and train station. However, this hotel is unbearably hot without any air conditioning. I've never had such a bad night's sleep in a hotel due to the temperature, and it wasn't even that hot outside! Wouldn't stay here again due to this issue.Rooms: 1/5
Stayed two nights two person's £160 Room standard very good bed not soft! gives a good night's sleep shower unit Great all in all very nice room & quiet?. Rooms and hotel were lovely, location fine, close to the station. Staff were good. My only comment would be that the rooms and corridors were so hot! Was difficult to sleep due to no air con. Obviously not always a challenge in the uk but on my stay it was pretty unbearable . Otherwise a great place to stay!
I stayed here whilst visiting Sheffield to watch the Snooker World Championship. It was a 10 minute walk to the Crucible and around the same time to the train station so the location is very good. Check in was very easy and the staff were friendly with nothing too much trouble. The rooms are a very good size, comfortable and quiet. I thought the shower was very good and larger than normal. I had a good night's sleep. The breakfast is nice, with plenty of options. The only thing I would add is if the cooked items could be a little hotter. But overall a very enjoyable stay and I would come back
The staff were friendly. The reception area was lovely and cool. I was over charged for checking in early but when questioned was given a refund. The room was exceptionally hot and therefore made the stay very uncomfortable and unpleasant, almost to the point of being unbearable. We had fan but I’d suggest you invest in air conditioning. The corridors were also unbearably hot to. We were there for the swimming Rooms: Unbearably hot Nearby activities: Didn’t have time to explore any Safety: To walk in to town centre I don’t feel safe after dark Walkability: Walking distance from pool So convenient Food & drinks: The one meal we ate was great Noteworthy details: Great for a night if coming to ponds forge for swimming as very convenient
Daughter booked here Saturday to Monday. Upon early arrival they charge extra to check in early. Told by a grumpy receptionist. Pros of hotel - good view depending on which side room you get. Great view of the trams. Good location to tram stop that takes you to Meadowhall. Peter the evening shift receptionist was very helpful. Breakfast had a good variety of cereal. Orange juice was nice. Hot breakfast item were good Scrambled no fried eggs, plum tomatoes not grilled. Although the items were in hot pans with tissue on the lids so not to burn hands. Bit fussy just have the hot items in open dishes like other breakfast bars. Cons- on arrival in the bathroom the toilet roll holder had half a roll on. Should be a full one. No safe provided in the room. Or ironing board and iron although not all hotels provide this amenity. The TV inch size is smaller than other hotels visited. Overall a pleasant and surprisingly nice stay.
Stayed here rather than the Novotel where we have stayed twice previously due to massive cost difference. No problems other than room was very warm July. I understand we could have requested a fan but by the time we realised the need we were dressed for bed. Service from reception and bar was excellent. We didn't eat there Walkability: Not the easiest to get to if you have mobility issues but otherwise if you arrive from the station by tram you get off at Ponds Forge and a very short downhill walk to hotel down a ramp
Good location but a disappointing room. Moulded single piece shower room and the room was very hot in July. No air con but reception gives you a fan if you ask. Expected much better given the rates.Rooms: 2/5
Room was alright, rock hard pillows and dirty window sill with other peoples rubbish left behind the curtain, clean bathroom Parking situation is awful!!! I had to pay £20 to park my car next door. We were only there from 10.30pm - 8am next morning so less than 12 hours and it was £20!!! We were told by the ibis that we could get half price because we were at the hotel and had to scan a code, we asked about it the next morning but was met by a very snotty rude woman at the Ibis reception saying we had to pre book to get the discount. The lady who gave me the discount ticket never told me this at 10.30 at night. All very badly explained and so very rude and made out I had done something wrong, she was so rude shouting at me and my partner about reading the signs on the wall… All in all will never stay at an Ibis again.
