We stayed 3 nights. The positives: The room was large and comfortable and in a good location for the city centre and station. It is pet friendly. It had a fridge, kettle with tea&coffee, decent size TV and a good sofa. The hotel was very clean. The only negatives we had were: 1. No air conditioning - we had to open the window and use the supplied fan which was adequate but as a result was noisy from road noise and fan noise. 2. Swimming pool - the water in the pool was very warm so not refreshing. It’s a small pool but adequate. We had to book a an hour time slot as only 8 people at a time can use it.
Basically false or misleading advertisement. No air conditioning. Rooms are run down. How this could ever possibly be rated 4* is well beyond me. They will never comment on a review about missing air con because it states specifically on their website that it has an "air cooling system". Stay at the Hilton. It has real air conditioning. Edit: Found the air cooling system. A single table top fan.
Hotel was ok, rooms could do with some updating and the lack of basin in the separate toilet makes it a bit of a pain when sharing. Overall it was clean and we were checked in quickly. We didn't eat in the hotel as it was a little pricey for my liking . Would say here again thoughRooms: 4/5
Professional, hospitable and welcoming staff all across the operation from the reception, restaurant, bar and housekeeping. However, I particularly felt the events coordinator personally guiding me to the meeting room and explaining it's features was a good personal touch. Also, the lady at reception who checked me into my room deserves praise as I'd mistakenly booked the wrong dates by a month, but she sorted things out. Thanks for the excellent hospitality and customer service. Noteworthy details: No Air-conditioning.
We had read some negativity on Trip Advisor but it was absolutely not warranted. The room was clean and lovely, the fridge appreciated, and the bar and especially the breakfast was very good we are picky as vegetarian, one gluten free and one who doesn’t eat dairy- but it was so well laid out and simple for dietary needs. We will come back.
Such a disappointment from such a well known chain of hotels! Novotel you have to do better! I have stayed in a few of hotels including Accor group, others and Novotel ones but this particular one based in Sheffield city centre I DO NOT RECOMMEND it and I certainly won't be back! The only thing I enjoyed about the place is the location as it's near most places, accessible to restaurants and close to train station but it ends there sadly! The hotel rooms are old and outdated even the executive room, although spacious, but the carpet bathroom furniture ect just old. The room was clean but not what we paid for and did not look like the one advertised on the Novotel website. Only to be told later that if you want accurate pictures you have to book via the Sheffield website?? Well know you and I know right?! The TV is old and doesn't work properly we even lost channel signal last night I mean just shocking! Overall not a great experience I would stay at Radisson or Mercury hotel next time... The food at the restaurant is decent, staff was professional and courteous though not very helpful and the breakfast had a good selection but it's the same selection every day and the eggs were very very blend ! Needless to say I won't go back! It was supposed to be a relaxing week end but ended up somewhat stressful. I forgot to mention they have no air-conditioning so it's super hot in the rooms though it says on the website again just misleading... Rooms: Outdated, hot but quiet. Nearby activities: Very accessible loads of restaurants Safety: Safe Walkability: Lots to see around Food & drinks: Restaurant and bar in hotel closes late and lots of restaurants around
Easy to find, central location. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms need to be updated, but overall clean and comfortable. My only recommendation is to have overflow parking designated at the casino next door. We have a terrible time trying to fit into the car park with some people getting cars wedged into tight spaces. An arrangement with the neighbouring car park on rates and a paper map for directions to the entrance would have been great.
Sadly, the hotel is old and long overdue for renovation. Even getting into the lifts is challenging; they are tiny and drop below the entry point level as soon as you put any weight on them. My wheelchair had to climb out of the lift due to it dropping down, and the same issue was present from reception up to the rooms. The hotel is showing its age, and while the staff are friendly, they are limited in what they can do. I had to be moved from my original accessible room because my chair got stuck between the bed and desk, which is obviously a risk in an accessible room. I was then moved to a bigger, also accessible, but still outdated room. The bathrooms have shower stalls instead of wall-mounted shower chairs, which are not as secure and not transferable. I raised these issues with the duty manager, who seemed aware, indicating I am not the only person who has complained.
The reception area and bar are bright and airy but the room we had was a bit dated and could do with a refresh. It was quite warm in the room and the tempera Control don’t seem to work. But the location is great close to the station and the city centre. But if you have been to to Sheffield prepare yourself for hills Rooms: It was quite warm in the room and the tempera Control don’t seem to work. I
Stayed this weekend checked it accor platinum members. Basic room over £200 no towels no toiletries 3 attempts for towels poor lad on reception felt heart sorry for him running back and forward. Went for swim and sauna great. Breakfast was a complete shambles. No bread took ages for the girl to bring 1 loaf for a line of people waiting! then toaster not working. Went for orange juice no juice! Went for hot food no bacon no sausage! There was nothing this was about 9.15 finally sat down about 9.40 oh I'll have a coffee no cups. Service was an absolute disgrace. Bar had no stock nothing left on tap on a Saturday bank Holiday! Shame because it a lovely hotel in an excellent location
