Story

Sewerby Hall is a Grade I listed Georgian country house set in 50acre of landscaped gardens in the village of Sewerby, 2mi from the seaside town of Bridlington in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England.The main block was built circa 1714, incorporating some older work, in 3 storeys in brick with a seven window frontage. In 1808, 2-storey bow fronted wings and a semi-circular Doric portico were added and the whole building painted to resemble stone. The wings were later raised to 3 storeys.

Excellent value for money. There's a nice 18th century house. A zoo with with exotic birds, some donkeys, emus, llamas etc, and a nice cafe too. There are some good walks around the grounds including a short walk to Sewerby beach rocks..be warned there's around 150 steps down. The house is excellent on the ground floor with really nice guides to tell you a bit of the history, but the upstairs rooms seem a little out of keeping with the Georgian style. The cafe is quite cheap and has plenty of choice of the usual cafe fare such as sandwiches and jacket potatoes with various fillings...the staff were very nice.nA really good all round experience for an entry fee of £13.
Visited as 4 adults 2 of which were younger adults. Arrived around lunchtime so headed straight for food in the clock tower cafe. Food and drink is reasonably priced compared to similar locations where you tend to find overpriced food for a captive audience, there seems to be plenty of space to sit with indoor and outdoor seating.nnThe zoo is small but again it’s included in the price so excellent value, feeding time talks in the afternoon with our fave being the ring tailed lemurs.nnThe house itself is a good size with plenty of rooms to see and the upper left wing has some excellent wildlife photography at the time of this review.nnThe grounds are extremely well kept if you just fancy a walk around and with views of the sea it’s a really nice setting.nnFinally there are the walled gardens which are immaculate. Beds of brightly coloured snapdragons are stunning - mixed with neatly trimmed hedges alongside wild flowers and bushes.
Such a great place to visit. You can spend all day here. Small zoo which is nice to go around. The sewerby hall house is really interesting love seeing how it would be, I love that there’s also things for the children to play and do upstairs, never had this when visiting a stately type home or hall.nThe grounds and roses garden are all so lovely and beautiful and well kept. The two play areas are great for kids!nThe cafe has a variety of good food and priced very reasonable.nGreat icecream here too.nWe played some of the garden games and the pitch and put.nOverall a lovely visit and definitely will be back, there’s so much to do!
Entry is a bargain as it includes the house, gardens and the zoo.nnThe house is beautiful we spent a good hour in there and it’s a lot more interactive for kids than most of these big houses. There are some items they can touch and play with and cards in most rooms with activities on.nnThe grounds are beautiful including a lovely fish pond, unfortunately one of the big Koi looked to be very poorly on its back which we informed staff about but they didn’t seemed too bothered which was disappointing. Before going I looked on the website and saw the “Love Exploring” app is linked to this site, we did a virtual dinosaur tour to keep my son walking when he was bored at looking at plants. Worked a treat.nnIn the zoo there’s some lovely animals which look to be well kept and happy, just a little monkey needing a nail trim. The staff were very passionate about the animals, we stayed for the penguin feeding time get there early for a good viewing spot.nnWe all had a lovely time. Would return.
The gardens are beautiful to walk around and sit in with benches dotted around the park. There's two play parks, plenty of toilets, a cafe and a walled garden. One pathway, through the trees, has wooden carved animals to see along the way. There's also a small zoo. The hall is also open at certain times to view and the orangery hosts live classical musical.nThe car park is free and entry into the grounds is free before 9am.
