Fantastic lil’ enclave tucked away on Londsdale Road, Queens Park. Dog friendly restaurant with great hamburgers and brunch affairs. Every Thursday night, they run a open-mic session with some of the most talented artists performing. Hosted a dog event at Hugo’s on 15 Feb 2020. Nick was extremely accommodating and supportive. Highly recommended location for private functions for its food, large spacious venue and flexible owner.
Hugo's takes the cake for ambiance. Great, airy setup and even nicer on a sunny day. The warm, country style interior is always pleasant. They recently redid their daytime menu and you can now build a DIY English breakfast which is great. Staff is very friendly, and they often have live music there's a piano in the back. We haven't had dinner there in a while, so not sure if they've redone that menu or not, but in the past it was very good the lamb, if I remember correctly, was terrific. I feel lucky to have this restaurant just around the corner in our neighborhood. I could go on but suffice to say this is a great place to be a regular at. Nice complement to Ostuni and Jack's down the block. Note: Hugo's scrambled eggs are some of the best I've had in as long as I can remember.
We just had a quick afternoon drink at Hugo's: I liked the quiet atmosphere and the low light filtering from the windows, which coloured the wood of the restaurant room with warm tones. A couple of guys were rehearsing some music with guitar, piano and a saxophone, while we were sipping a nice smoothie and a prosecco with sloe gin cocktail. All good, although I would have liked a slightly friendlier attitude by the waitress, which although was not unwelcoming looked a bit abrupt to us.
Breakfast was amazing self built!! Service wasn't. 10 minutes until order taken and not very organised and rushed. Nice outside seating!
I had been looking forward to going to Hugo’s for months as I like to support local, independent family businesses. However it was a disappointing experience. Despite the pretty venue, the food, customer service and poor value let it down. The vegetarian burger which was more expensive than the meat option was overpriced, over salted and stodgy. The food was poorly thought out and lazily executed. The meal was not as described on the menu. Given the quality of the food it was well overpriced. The £15 burger would have been more accurately priced at £7. The male server was grumpy and short with us and the female server, although nice at first, was strangely cold as we were leaving. We were not made to feel welcome. It’s a cozy neighbourhood spot let down by its food and customer service. The chips were very nice
Nice decor and atmosphere. Location is good in a relatively quiet private road. Burgers were tasty, but portions quite small. Pasta was overcooked and the sauce was an average tomato one. Waiting times were long even if the restaurant was not full.
I hadn’t been in this place for a number of years. As all the other newer places were full for a Saturday brunch time I ventured back into this not packed establishment. And it was probably packed for a reason. Service was slow. A piece of toast with two poached eggs on top on a huge white plate with no garnish really doesn’t look that appetising. The coffee wasn’t good either. We waited ages for the bill and eventually had to go to the till. And the place was cold. I wanted it to have improved since my last visit but alas, it hadn’t. I’ll be venturing into the packed places next time; I suspect they are packed for a reason.
Nice little place but would be improved to 5 very easily. Longer opening hours especially on a Sunday would be great as it's a lovely little spot to have a drink especially if the weather is good. More Gin choices would be good too. Generally the staff are nice but on a couple of occasions we've been moved on a bit more harshly than I'd expect at closing time.
I've been here numerous times now and food and service has always been consistently good. Food is relatively is high quality and there is always something interesting to try from the specials board. They do some special nights during the week such as 'Steak night', that are very good value. Two ribeye steaks and two glasses of wine for £30. You can also just pop in for a few drinks, if you're not hungry. Highly recommend.
In this instance it was as a wedding venue. The staff were really, really polite and professional, the meal was very good and the atmosphere was lovely. Parking was free when I arrived after 3pm but it may be free all day and the whole street is available certain businesses are closed on the weekend so you just park in their spaces. Overall a great experience.
