Kilburn Park  £4.95 Madri A Kilburn local good for live sport. . The Earl of Derby is perched on a corner half way up busy Kilburn High Road. Getting here is easy, Kilburn Park and Kilburn Tube stations are both a short walk away. . This imposing Victorian pub was built in 1869. In recent years the pub has been called ‘The Goose and Granite’, then ‘The Golden Egg’. In 2013 the pub closed after a man accidentally shot himself in the foot in the gents toilets. When it reopened as the Earl of Derby the interior and exterior were extensively refurbished. . This cavernous pub has a large single L shaped bar which is on two levels. The lower level has plenty of poser and low level tables and chairs, the rear area was up a few steps, this area has three pool tables, some eclectic furniture and a decorative high ceiling. The servery runs down the righthand side and is a good size. . The beer selection was made up of mainstream keg and a few craft options. I decided on a pint of Madri, a decent enough pint that cost less than a fiver. There is no food menu at present. . I arrived at kickoff at 3pm on FA Cup final day to watch the first half. There were a number of security in the pub due to Man Utd/City fans that drink in pubs in Kilburn before heading off to Wembley. The atmosphere was calm with the majority of punters in the front area of the pub watching the match. The service was good, I was served in no time at all. . The Earl of Derby was a straight up locals boozer that is a great place to watch live sport and play pool. Looking around the pub you realise that this once was a grand venue, just look up to see why. Worth a look in you fancy watching the footy. . ℹ Info correct on visiting 03.06.23
This is primarily a review of the Sunday roast. The service at the Earl Derby, especially since the fairly decent refurb, is always really good - engaging and happy. The food is well priced just over £10 for a Sunday roast lunch, an tonic water and a latte and the Sunday roast itself is fine - it's fairly basic they used to do a cauliflower cheese with it, but no more, but it is tasty and is just enough food to stay nicely full until evening. The atmosphere to the place is okay tends to have sport on TV, though volume is very low so not distracting if reading or talking and there's a pool table £1 a game and free board games. The toilets are pretty clean too. Overall, worth dropping by for friendly service and a wholesome Sunday roast that doesn't break the bank.
Such a great pub the staff are extra friendly. Great locals open late and would definitely recommend this pub. Kilburn hidden gem
It was my first time visiting. Couldn't believe how spacious it was, how much seating there was, and a dance floor. Enjoyed my evening with friends for my sister's birthday. The Dj on Saturday was on point and played different genres of music. He is open to requests. Drinks are very reasonable, and I am looking forward to seeing Wray and nephew among them. Parking is available on the main road. Finishes at 1 am. I wish it was 2 am instead. Maybe one day. Would definitely recommend a visit.
This place is brilliant , have not been to Kilburn in years so thought I would pop in as passing by.the place I The pub has certainly changed over the years and also the staff . 1 Young barmaid called Samantha was so polite and could not of been more helpful towards me . I will certainly come back again when I’m over . Many thanks for your hospitality people .
I enjoyed the beer and the especially prices I recommend it for prices. I enjoyed a friendly staff atmosphere among them behind the bar. Plus I saw some kind of team come together. Never seen it before but nice. I have seen someone that looks like the manager clearly on the ball. This was my second visit after being convinced by my friend. Me and my wife went there on both visits. I was happy that they had Stella pints, my drink and also cools pints, light version of beer, my other drink. On the first visit, there were 6 or so DJ's surrounding the DJ box, but the music was more experimental to put nicely. I am happy that on our second visit this was resolved and we enjoyed the music. Plus the pub feels and looks clean. You now, are wondering why I have given it 4 stars. I just didn't feel secure. That's not to put it on the pub but probably my own and my wife's perception. Which can be wrong. I believe the pub will understand what I mean. But a lot of potential in this pub. The area needs it. We'll done so far.
There is NO KITCHEN here any more and in my opinion for the better, PROPER IRISH RAN PUB. Brilliant in its simplicity, Quality Draught Cleaned to a high level you can taste, Back to what pubs r supposed to be Drink quality you can taste Clean and comfortable while keeping A RUSTIC IRISH BAR FEEL. And the prices are UNIQUE to London, never mind central insane with house spirits Captain morgan , Smirnoff Vodka, Gordon’s Gin, Bells whiskey, at £4.60 for a double and mixer served with a smile, correct garnish and a straw in noticeably clean glassware, House lager is COORS at £3.20. Strongbow cider at £3.20. And showing the 33rd county of Ireland in style for Guinness at £4.30. Amongst premium lagers MADRI, PUNK IPA, PERONI, you no there is a sweet dark fruit Stongbow. And the old favourites that never die CARLING at £4.00 and John smiths that I counted 11 seconds two settle the quality I swear lol easy to see the work is being put in to this pub in the right places. as I said getting the basics to a very high level and keeping their quality. Try this gem on Kilburn high road you won’t be disappointed new management only since march but has come on a long way from a pub that seemed over and out. not fully there the toilets still need some work but smelling fine and obviously being cleaned. But I have full confidence over the next 2 months this pub will be transformed The Guineas Quality second two none with even a Shamrock drawn on top must try EARL DERBY KILBURN You be the judge of this once down and out pub I’m sure you will agree.
Absolutely love the Earl! Such a welcoming place with an amazing atmosphere. My go-to bartender Abby, always greets me with a smile & pulls a mean pint! Thanks all!
Before I start the review, it seems that after reading some other reviews, and how nearly all of them were replied to would mean that they are trying their very best to improve from whatever their last management was. And it shows! It feels nice, a bit dark but I think that goes well with the theme of dark wooden tables and such. The ceiling is very high with gorgeous lights that make it seem like you're in a victoria style mansion. The food is great and presented very well. The staff are very kind. Only slight problem I had was that the first drink I got wasn't completely filled to the brim and I have too much anxiety to say anything face to face. It was probably a mistake because the rest of the drinks were perfect. All in all, its worth a visit as it is located in town and although there isn't free parking, there is parking available next to the pub and is quite cheap.
Absolutely lovely spot, couldn't recomend more. Nice and private atmosphere with reasonably priced beer. What more do you need?Food: 5/5
