Although this hotel is rated as four stars, the interior feels very outdated. The space where a small fridge should be was left empty, the sink was leaking, and the glass partition in the shower had a large gap at the bottom—completely failing to keep the water in. After every shower, the bathroom floor was soaked.nnThe most disappointing experience happened at breakfast. My companion and I waited at the entrance, gave our room number to the staff, and were guided to our table by a friendly staff member in a white shirt. She kindly told us the table needed to be wiped first, asked us to go get food, and everything felt very welcoming. However, as we were walking toward the buffet, a woman in a black outfit, who looked like a manager, suddenly came out and questioned us about whether we had given our room number. This was extremely unpleasant. We had clearly followed the rules—waited at the entrance, reported our room number, and were led by staff to the table—yet we were made to feel as if we were sneaking in for a free breakfast. Even worse, during the whole meal we noticed she never asked the same question to any other guests. Was it because we, as Asian guests, looked more “suspicious”? It felt offensive and discriminatory.nnThat said, the hotel does have some positive aspects: the unique view of the stadium from certain rooms, very warm and welcoming front desk staff, and a decent gym.
Good-sized rooms that are clean and comfortable with the usual amenities although there's no fridge or minibar. The young ladies at the front desk were also polite and helpful.nnThe hotel is attached to the Norwich football grounds, so it's really convenient if you're there for the footie. It can be a bit of a walk into town, though.nnThe breakfast was very good value for the money and quite tasty.nnThe general decor and ambience were better than I'd expected
A decent hotel not far from the train station a medium walk from town. The rooms are big, if little faded. Staff were wonderful. The continual emails asking for reviews after staying here have been frustrating though. The price was also high for what you get
Today we decided to book a 1pm pre match meal in the restaurant. We ordered at 1.07 . There was around a 20 minute wait until 2 out of our 3 meals arrived. My son ordered a duck salad and his did not arrive at the same time, As this does not need to be cooked we were baffled! Despite asking about the missing meal on 4 occasions it did not arrive until 1.58.nWhy ?? We were told the reason was there was only one chef on duty. On an matchday this is ridiculous. Also there was only one waitress taking orders. This totally ruined the occasion and the staff simply said it’s coming or it’s on its way when we asked rather Han offer an apology and an explanation . My son said to the manageress that he wanted a refund when his food arrived 51 minutes after we ordered . The manageress then tried to remove the food! But in the end agreed he could eat his lunch and eventually he had his refund.nMemo to the restaurant manager, on match day please have adequate kitchen staff/ chefs, and more than one waitress taking orders and delivering drinks. I suspect this is the main reason the restaurant wasn’t packed like it used to be!nThe photo below should not take 51 minutes to prepare!
Rooms were dusty. You can check the drawers which seemed to not have been cleaned in a while. Beds were not very comfortable. Breakfast spread was good, but the service could have been better. We opted for half boarding looking at the available vegetarian and Indian cuisine options. But that was only in the advertisement, in actuals my wife had a lots of problem since she is vegetarian and she has problems with mushrooms and soya based options.
