I regularly travel and stay in IHG and other brands globally and I think this Holiday Inn needs some tlc to justify its 4* rating and £150 price.nnGood:nParking was freenThe staff were friendly and helpfulnThe breakfast was goodnBeds were comfortablenSheets and towels were cleannnBad:nThe smells around the hotel are pretty bad smells of toilet at various places not near the toiletnThe hotel is very tirednBroken fixtures and fittings in the roomnStains and mould on the walls in placesnAccumulated dirt and grimnGrouting was orange and dirty in placesnShower head was disgusting and barley worked due to dirt build upnThe bar was service flat tonic for gin and tonic which is clearly out of date or improperly stored, other guests told me they had experienced this on other nights so clearly a reoccurring problemnNo ice in the bar for 4* hotel this is pretty poornnOverall, unless this is cheap I would suggest there are better options. IHG you need to get this placed cleaned and fixed up
From the moment we arrived, the experience was frustrating. At check-in, we were unexpectedly told we had to pay £10 for parking – something that was never mentioned during booking. We had also booked a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast package, but the receptionist insisted it wasn’t included until I showed the confirmation email. He said he would inform the bar staff, but this never happened.nnWhen we went for dinner, we mentioned our DBB booking again and were told that adults only received one course from the main menu, while children received three courses. It wasn’t until I checked the hotel’s own website that I found it clearly stated adults also receive three courses. We selected from the main menu, only to then be told there was a separate DBB menu – which had nothing my husband could eat. After explaining the conflicting information, they reluctantly agreed to allow one course.nnWe also asked if the children’s meals they are 3 and 4 could come out as soon as ready. Despite this, I had to chase their food, and when it arrived, their starter and main came out together. Our mains were served before our starters, and when my fish and chips eventually arrived, the wrong type of chips were served. Worse, the fish was completely inedible – it was off, and I had to spit it out.nnBy this point, we had lost all confidence in the service. The manager offered a discount, but situations like this should never escalate to that point. Staff training, communication, and basic food quality urgently need attention.nnUnfortunately, we will not be returning.
Thank goodness my buisiness paid for this stay. I travel quite a lot with work but this has got to be the worst hotel ive stayed in for a while. Starting with the rooms, basic, not as advertised online. No where to charge your phone near the bed, questionable bedding stains with a crusted bogie when I pulled back the duvet, pillows that might as well be bricks and the aircon system that does not work in my room.nnI went down for dinner and I wish id gone to papa John's across the road as I waited an hour and 15 for a chicken burger, this only arrived because I prompted staff. It arrived cold and overcooked i left over half of it. I ordered pudding too when I placed my initial order and as if been waiting i reminded that I had placed that order. Again, it arrived with congealed custard from not being heated enough and still only luke warm. In total I was there 2 hours for a table of 1...nnI went to give feedback to reception but he was like a deer in headlights and didnt know what to do, so all fell on deaf ears.nnSo im now here at 5am writing a review as ive had terrible sleep before my work meeting because of the uncomfortable bed, wishing id braved the 2.5 hour drive in the morning instead.
The staff are amazing and very friendly, and the rooms are comfy and clean, but the walls are paper-thin. There was a party downstairs on the Saturday night that was very noisy and kept me awake well into the night; it was also very loud if anyone walked past my room, or if a door or mattress created in the room upstairs. Location was ideal though.
Holiday Inn Kenilworth almost gives a false idea of how nice it will be. The lobby and breakfast is clean, modern and tidy. Its nice and gives the impression the rest of the hotel will be nice. The rest of the hotel felt tired, with the rooms needing refurbishment. My initial room was okay, but the bathroom door was in dire need of replacement and the rest of the room could have done with refurbishment. That was the positives end for the first room as at 10pm at night the bathroom started leaking with water coming through the bathroom's lights. We were given a new room after waiting some time in the lobby for staff to help. Our new room was very hot so we had to use a fan to cool it down, and the TV did not work. I slept okay. The hotel was quiet. It was in a good location. Breakfast was nice and had a good selection, so that redeemed the stay slightly.
