Had an afternoon tea party here for my birthday. They were absolutely fantastic. The event planner was really helpful, they just sorted everything out. The room was prepared beautifully, the afternoon tea was delicious and very generous, they covered all dietary requirements. The service was brilliant, they kept our teas and coffees topped up and provided boxes to take away left overs, they didn't rush to get us out. I don't think they could have done better. It was a lovely afternoon. Would highly recommend,
We visited to try the restaurant, I think most people here were wedding guests or overnight guests. The food was amazing especially the crab starter. The staff were very friendly. The building is very old and looked very picturesque in the snow and frost. It is not what you expect given the location. There was a wedding being held at the time, however the hotel seemed to be well staffed and we were well looked after.
We've stayed here several times & love the rooms - we've always been warm & comfortable & have found them to be spotlessly clean & beautifully furnished. The staff are helpful & always make us feel very welcome. Unfortunately our experience of the food hasn't been as good - for one thing, it's never hot enough. Every meal we've had has just been aired. That said, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Stunning location and beautiful surroundings. The building dates back to 1700s. Lots of media memorabilia too - The Beatles; Happy Valley and The Last Tango in Halifax, plus Jamie Oliver. Gorgeous room to eat. Beautiful reception room and bar; lovely gardens even in the back of Winter. We visited the restaurant for evening dinner for Mothers Day; 3 adults and one child. The service was first class, although the time between the main course and dessert was painfully slow. That would be my only feed-forward to the team. A comprehensive wine list. A detailed menu with exquisite presentation. We spent £170 on three courses for four people with drinks. We will go back time and time again.
We had our wedding at Holdsworth House and they did a spectacular job. Franck made us feel so welcome and looked after at our tasting. Amanda did a fantastic job organising the event and made sure everything ran smoothly on the day. She was a star! We had an amazing day and guests kept telling us how beautiful the place was. Would highly recommend!
What a fantastic place, stayed here last weekend for a wedding party, rooms were lovely & friendly staff. Food was absolutely brilliant that came out for the wedding party over 50 guests and all the food was cooked to perfection that's not easy. If you're thinking about this place for a wedding they do a superb job. The breakfast that next day was also 10/10. LOVED IT thanks to all the staff, special mention ot the chefs & Eric the cat!!!!
Attended previously for an afternoon tea and was blown away by the beauty of the place. Decided to take advantage of special offer of DB&B and had a lovely time. The professionalism and service was of the highest standard throughout our stay. The evening meal and breakfast were both lovely. The hotel has managed to ensure modern facilities whilst maintaining the 17th century feel. A gem of a place.
My sister held her wedding here yesterday and I stayed overnight. The reception was fabulous as was the food and service. The twin room I shared with a friend was very comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities and plenty big enough for both of us. Highly recommendedRooms: 5/5
Attended a friend's wedding here a couple of days ago. Absolutely stunning venue steeped in history, if something of a maze in places. Stuffed full of beautiful antique furniture, lamps and other items, but be aware that there are lots of stairs between the different parts of the building which my disabled partner struggled with at times. Food was delicious and the ceremony was lovely - very classy place. We didn't stay overnight so can't comment on the guest rooms, although others did and reported that they were quite warm. Probably typical of this type of building with its low ceilings, thick stone walls and small mullioned windows, but I bet it's lovely and cosy in January or February with the numerous fireplaces lit. Said 'hi' to the house cat Eric on a couple of occasions during the evening but in typical cat fashion he wasn't really interested in reciprocating our attention!
We had been bought a prosecco afternoon tea for 2 as a gift from our daughter. When making the booking my husband booked for the champagne one and on arriving, we asked if it was alright to upgrade. The tea itself was pleasant, the champagne was lovely and the service was excellent. I have been here before and have to say the quality has improved immensely. My problem came when we settled the bill. At first we were being charged in full, no deduction for the voucher, but this was corrected, though I don't think correctly. We were charged an additional £17.10, when based upon their own website, the upgrade should only have been another £8 for the pair. It is a shame as yet again, I now don't want to return. Food was fine, service was good, so I feel so disappointed that I am leaving again, not wanting to return. Food & drinks: Afternoon tea
