Absolutely fantastic staff, couldn't be more helpful. Receptionists took our cases from us and put them in room, so we could park our car. Gave us advice on good restaurants and how to get there. Hotel is an old hotel but despite this it was lovely and clean and decor was in keeping with its age... really liked it. Breakfast was great... good choice. Could see breakfast staff worked really well as a team. We will be back... well done to all the staff. Thankyou for making our stay really welcoming and enjoyable
Fantastic service, the staff are so welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Such a good atmosphere. The grade II listed building has some nice features and is pleasingly decorated. The room is comfortable, clean, and well maintained. The breakfast is lovely, the full English sets you up for the day.
Lovely friendly and welcoming reception. Lovely big room with great bathroom. Bed was so comfortable and large and duvet was so warm and comfortable. Really good hairdryer so much better than you get in most hotels with a mirror and plug point close by! So you can actually see what you are doing! Breakfast was really good with very good quality food. Staff were attentive without being intrusive. Would really recommend this hotel.
Stayed for a night..nice clean room..bathroom a bit dated, kinda 70's but was ideal for the night, right in the town centre to. Nice happy friendly staff, didn't stay for breakfast bit pricey. Overall a nice place to stay.Rooms: 5/5
What a find. We had a lovely stay for our 7th wedding anniversary. Front of house Stacey was extremely welcoming and really couldn't do enough for us during our stay. Afternoon tea was lovely in a very relaxed atmosphere, with unlimited tea/coffee. Breakfast was served to the table hot each morning. Our compliments to the chef. Jackie also made us very welcome each morning at breakfast. Brilliant staff. Keep up the great work
Room was nice. Staff are very nice. Was in the heart of Halifax a stones throw away from the Victoria theatre where we was going that night. Also very close to pubs and bars . Can park car in big car park not far from hotel costing £11 for 24 hours. Will definitely stay there again if we in halifax again.
The hotel room was very big and spacious but not the cleanest. A random woman entered my room without knocking to ask if i needed anything and caught me in bed half asleep! My colleagues reported the same thing happening to them too so it's probably a common occurrence. I could have been completely naked!?Rooms: 3/5
Superior room very small and rear of building. Breakfast not bad, but bacon was disgusting, they call it "turkey bacon" should have a choice. Have been twice before but won't going there again.Rooms: 2/5
Under new management and refurbished inside so suggest you ignore any old negative reviews and concentrate on the latest ones. Excellent warm and helpful welcome by Reception staff on arrival and throughout our stay, excellent breakfasts and immaculate room. We were delighted with our stay in this characterful hotel right in the heart of this lovely town, just a few minutes walk from everything you'd want to visit - Piece Hall, Dean Clough, Borough Market, Halifax Minster and don't miss a quick foray into the new Library to admire its staircase. An ideal and excellent hotel for a short break away. Would recommend and we would stay again. If going for an extended break in 2021, check their car park has reopened to guests as it was temporarily closed for the continuing refurbishment. We were guided by the staff to park safely in the nearby manned multi-storey and @ £11 per day for a short break this didn’t break our bank nor spoil our stay!
Woken up at 4/5am with a lot of noise from the basement. stayed in room 106. Spoke to receptionist who said it was street noise - it wasn’t. Room wasn’t clean - cobwebs, dirty mug and spoon left on the tray, dirty cushions on the bed. No help when arriving, struggling through the door with my case, receptionists didn’t even come and hold the door open. A very disappointing stay - I would recommend staying in the Premier Inn.
