Avoid, avoid, avoid. We had rooms booked, turned up to check in, and got rudely refused entry at the door because they'd used the place to house refugees instead. That's fine, help the needy, but to be rude borderline aggressive to people who had paid, and then the manager even refused to come and speak to us. Then took weeks to get a refund. Would never go back. Don't care how cheap they are.
Staff were impeccably dressed. The guys on reception were lovely. It's a big old building with lots of rooms. It looks as though it's due a revamp, but In this current climate, the room was clean, comfortable, spacious and airy. The bath was big and deep and the towels were fluffy and clean. Breakfast was down stairs, and attention to service was lovely. Something you don't always get nowadays ... Nothing was to much trouble. Definitely worth the money..
I've stayed here a few times visiting family and I enjoy the cleanliness, good breakfasts and the staff are great! DONT park in the carpark opposite the Parish Church but turn left at the hotel and the carpark is just past the hotel. I really recommend this hotel!Rooms: 5/5
Dirty room, very poor breakfast both in quality and service. Yes it's cheap but it sure reflects it. A shame because front of house is very good. I left a face drawing in the dirt on the window glass. Be interested to know if it is still available. Pattern on painted dressing table black with dirt. Overall a very unkempt room. Cleaners must have hovering dusters. Bathroom not very clean also. Definitely would not stay here again. Sorry.
We stopped last Friday at short notice, booked direct and got a free drink at the bar for each guest. The room was spacious if a little dated. Bed was comfortable and the breakfast was very good and overall service was impeccable. It's not the Ritz but it's £39 for double Inc breakfast. What's not to like.Rooms: 4/5
What an absolutely lovely hotel. It isn’t the Ritz, but it doesn’t pretend to be - it’s honest, unpretentious and laid back. The furnishings are welcoming and comfortable and the staff are delightful, without exception. The food is delicious and very nicely presented, served in a cosy restaurant that is subtly classy. Breakfast is very good, with a big variety and range available. It’s well placed for visiting the Yorkshire Dales and most definitely worth considering if you’re visiting there area.
Only stayed a night, but I still enjoyed staying here a lot. It's conveniently near to the Piece Hall, the train station and other attractions I wanted to check out before I left in the morning. Checking in and out was easy, the staff are happy to help and the room was very affordable, which was great for my budget adventure around West Yorkshire! Definitely worth a stay here
The hotel smelt like a toilet from the entrance and even into the room. I got locked in the first room and had to be moved. The food service very slow as only one person serving food and taking orders. When the food came it wasn’t worth the wait, it tasted appalling. The toilet in our room was brown and the water was dirty. The shower had hairs in it showing it hadn’t been cleaned properly. Breakfast was blunt, just the mushrooms were nice. Even the juice tasted off. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
This hotel was good . Price reasonable and room very comfortable. and clean. Breakfast was adequate and again, value was good The young lady on reception was lovely , very helpful on our arrival, with all essential information regarding hotel and her manner was very polite and respectfull. A comfortable nights sleep was had and I would stay there again ,and also recommend staying there to others.
Lovely hotel in a historic building. It appears to be in the process of being renovated our room had not been done up but was clean and beautifully furnished, the many public areas are modern and trendy. I'm not sure if the breakfast room has been done up yet but it was clean and airy and I found the chairs very comfortable. The games room has two pool tables and a table football game as well as sofas and a TV. Again it was very clean and modern. The complimentary coffee machine is located in the breakfast room and is accessible all day. On the minus side all the floorboards squeak it is an old building so probably can't be helped and our room had some damp mold around the window and cobwebs in one of the corners.
