A real nice weatherspoon restaurant in the heart of Exeter close to the cathedral. The main building is looking like an old church and the Ambiente is really special. There is a small but nice outside area as well. The prices for drinks and food were increasing a lot in the last years. unfortunately not the food wuality...
I've been to this place twice recently. First time I had a breakfast with my friend there and it was great. I definitely recommend mushroom eggs benedict with hollandaise sauce. The second time, I was there with my partner. I had a buttermilk chicken burger for lunch. This is my go-to dish when it comes to food there. They do have plenty of affordable food options and great drinks. Service and atmosphere were really good too.
Went for drinks and food. Ordered from the 'small plates' menu. Food was delicious and plentiful. Quirky location old church complete with pulpit. Staff never stopped: pouring drinks, serving drinks, clearing away plates/glasses, cleaning etc, they were brilliant. There's a large inviting outside area too, which is also well kept. One of the best Wetherspoons I've been to.
Fantastic, superbly designed pub. The decor is amazing, it really makes you feel part of an experience not just having a swift drink in a pub. Outdoor seating, well lit, great facilities. Disability access is a bit limited especially with the main seating area having very tall tables and chairs. There are other lower seating options but within the main body of the establishment this may be tricky for people with mobility issues. I also have to point out that the beautifully set out outdoor seating area is great to sit in but the only draw back is there is no table service and it's a looonnggg way back to the bar especially when you're relaxing.
Just popped in here for a quick meal after a 300-mile drive, so I needed food quick and, of course, a refreshing drink. Vet good value for money......chicken strips, chips, coleslaw and sauce, and a pint of lager all under £10. Yes, I know wetherspoons food is microwaved, but when you are as desperate as I was, you don't care. Service and staff were very good. The food tasted nice. The thing that unfortunately let it down was the tables had been cleared and wiped were still dirty, but apart from that, it was fine.
I was staying in Exeter for a few days and chose to pop in here for food. I was interested to see what it looks like inside and if any of the original features were still in place. I ordered a jacket potato and paid for a topping of cheese. When my food arrived I had a jacket potato with cheese but no beans. Due to having a hypo I did not have time to sort this out so just ate my food. The food was warm at best but well presented. After eating, I approached staff who apologised and gave me a refund for the topping that I did not receive. The following day I came in for breakfast before leaving the city to head home. I have the staff member my table number and went to get my refill drink. I was waiting for my breakfast and wondering where it was. I was approached by staff asking what I had ordered as the person who I’d ordered my food with had put down the wrong table numbers and staff were unable to locate me. When my breakfast arrived again it was well presented but again it was warm at best. Due to the need of catching a coach soon I ate my food and promptly left. It’s Weatherspoon’s so don’t expect the Ritz but for that’s hot would be nice. It’s cheap and cheerful but would look at using a different Wetherspoon’s next time I’m in the city.
Visiting Exeter we came for dinner. We experienced the usual value, service and quality of food which is invariably our experience in Wetherspoons establishments. Robert and Ian.
It's a converted Chapel in centre of Exeter. Plenty of room downstairs plus seating upstairs when open. Food was typical Spoons and service when ordered on app was pretty fast. Good value for money.
Go here instead of the Chevalier. A Good Wetherspoons, but it's not quite big enough. If you get here at later than 8pm on a Friday or Saturday, good luck finding a table. Upstairs has a cool balcony section.
This is a beautifully refurbished 18th century turt Chapel ! Great location and spacious seatings downstairs, beautiful courtyard garden seating area and some on the mezzanine floor. Friendly and efficient staff during our visit Definitely another nice place to visit in Exeter Town centre..
