It's incredible to believe that it's as old as it is, and I've never seen a ship without its rigging-which is apparently what helps make this ship so unusual. Full access all over the ship, though not for the faint-hearted or mobility challenged. Lower decks have very restricted head clearance, and you have to stoop, but it's well worth it to see all the way round. All the steps are very steep and ladder like, but with rope handles to help with descent. The staff on hand are knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant. Definitely worth a visit.
The HMS Unicorn is the 3rd oldest floating ship in the world and definitely a must visit in Dundee. With most of its original parts, you are able to immerse yourself in what it was like for those who served on board. I highly recommend taking the free tour. Beth's tour guide love for the ship was infectious, and the tour gave me a deeper appreciation of the ship.
HMS Unicorn is nearly nice. Worth visiting it. Guide the lady was really nice and try to give answer of all of your queries. We really enjoy the tour. Paid parking available. Toilet available if you buy ticket. Wheel char assistance is little different.
Fantastic. One of the oldest ships in the world. Launched in 1824 at Chatham Dockyard in Kent. As it was built just after the end of the Napoleonic Wars it was never rigged so had a roof structure built which has helped protect it ever since as well as the lack of sea service. Brought to Dundee in 1873 and spent many years as a training ship though a German submarine did surrender to it in 1945. Its about 90% original and is well worth exploring the different decks and looking at the various exhibits on display. Friendly and helpful staff.
Scotland's oldest ship at 200 years old! Sitting in harmony at Dundee. Was a pleasure to see this beauty.
