Booked online ok but then on arrival was told that i had to have a credit card in my name (which i don't own) to cover the insurance excess. Only other option was to purchase their extended expensive insurance cover. I pointed out that this restriction was not made clear during booking but they referred me to Ts & Cs. I walked away and booked with Budget who were much more helpful. Beware these guys!

Fleeced and blackmailed. 

I've rented over 100 cars off hertz with no problems. Last night I returned a car where they spotted a 1cm dent that you could only see if you looked down the line of the car. When I photographed it, you couldn't even see it. They informed me that it would cost £70 plus admin (turned out to be £122) there and then. I said I wanted to talk the manager on Mon morning before paying. I was then informed that if I didn't take the £70 offer there and then that it would cost upwards of £650. If that's how they treat a loyal customer, how will they treat you? Avoid these guys.

£31 for two day booking then forced to take "insurance" of £38 - which was apparently in their ts & can even though I booked through another agent. So so annoyed

Absolutely the worse experience.  Do not use.  
Booked through agus car hire. Arrive, said  they needed a some kind of count number. The car was there.  But she wouldn't give it to me.  I said call the manager. She said she can't as she's probably putting the kids to bed.  What a joke. Avoid at every cost. Never had an issue with budget. Used them dozens of times.

Addition. So I got through to Belfast international and the person told me on the phone they will not hire to me because I was abusive to the staff. This is 100% a complete lie.  I will be taking this as far as I can. This is slander.

Update - got a full refund, and they even had to refund taxi fares -

I hired a car from Hertz online but made a mistake on my booking.
When my wife and I got to Belfast International, Pamela, patiently and with good humour, sorted out the problem 
Thank you for making the start of our holiday stress free.
