Not a bad place to start a journey because plenty of options to go around from Brighton to Portsmouth. Victoria to Waterloo. Good staff and good train service.
Very well-connected for Solent services, as well as up to London and Brighton.nClear departure screens and platform announcements.nOn my most recent visit 21/06/25 6pm, the station would have benefitted from a greater staff presence, as there were some 'worse for wear'' individuals who were stumbling around the platform. A recipe for disaster there.
Good facilities. Stairways on modern footbridge. Lift access to bridge. There is entrances either side ticket gates. Large Pumpkin coffee shop either side of the station with a wide range of magazines.nThe bike racks are generous and are actually on platform 1 so in a pretty safe place. Excellent lighting and good cctv. Staff seem friendly enough.
Havant to Waterloo. Paid £153 to travel first class as last time I could not get a seat on the return journey. Travelling up was fine but the return was what I have come to expect. Got on the 5.45 at Waterloo and then it announced that the train would be a fast train to Hilsea!! I have no idea what happens to the train when it get to Hilsea. So I got off the train and found another due to stop in Havant. This was the slow train which stopped at every station which is fine but it stopped for about 5 mins each time. Got back to Havant at 8.30.
I love the fact that this train station hasn't changed in all the decades I've known it since coming here as a child in the 1970's !
