Fact: classical music is not dead. Records are not dead. Jazz is not dead. All the more reason why a visit to Soho’s Harold Moores Records, London’s last surviving independent classical music store, is well worth it. Going strong since the early 1970s the shop has been able to service the needs of those with a penchant for the classical genres... To me the highlight is the basement with the second hand stocks. Excellent categorising, single LP priced between 5 to 10 pounds which is a good bargain. Disc cleaning is available upon request a decent VPI machine.
An excellent classical/jazz shop selling brand new CDs as well as second-hand CDs and vinyls downstairs. Plus DVDs. The staff are polite and helpful and I trust their recommendations.
A very nice shop with classical music LPs in the centre of London. The collection is not very big, but it seems that it is renewed often.
One of the few places in the UK sells only classic and jazz vinyls
Organised display of vinyls and a good collection of jazz and popular.
An obligatory stop for vinyl collectors who are passionate about classical music a genre now almost completely penalized by shops that deal in the analogue format. In addition to a decent selection of CDs and DVDs, in fact, in the basement there is an interesting selection of labels that have made history: Decca, Columbia, DG, HMV just to name a few, with highly sought-after titles and, the most sometimes in excellent condition. Prices are proportionate to the rarity and condition of the LPs: a Decca SXL2000 series or a "blue/silver" Columbia SAX can reach up to 80 pounds. Good assortment of operatic box sets; friendly and helpful staff. The discs on display, according to what can be seen behind the counter in the basement, are previously washed with a special Vpi machine.
A record store focusing on classical music. If you talk to the store manager, he will probably tell you about this and that.
