Absolutely fabulous dinner party for 16 year old...Lesley and her team went out of their way to make it special...great value... definitely back soon. Keep your local going - use it or lose it. Fab pub; great carvery and full menu
There was four of us today at the Hare & Hounds and ordered a carvery each. Wow it was delicious. And lastly me and my partner ordered a lemon, blueberry and raspberry sponge with custard. It was yummylicious. Will definitely be back for more .
My granddaughter loves this place for a carvery and it was her 12th birthday. She wanted to have her meal there so my daughter made a cake which we took along with us. We were really shocked to find out that we were allowed to have the cake on the table but we were not allowed to eat it the reason stated what health and safety????? We have always taken cakes with us to many different restaurants for birthday parties and never had a problem needless to say one disappointed child at her birthday meal shame really as the carvery was really good yesterday. Only negative about the pub was the heating. ... it was like a sauna. I heard the barman saying to a chap that the boss whacks the heating up and when we spoke to a waitress as it really was unbearable she opened a door for us telling us that it was her boss turning up the heating. The chap serving the carvery was doing a sterling job in unbearable heat with sweat pouring from his brow. We really felt for him but despite this he was cheerful polite and coping well on his own with the huge queue.
Yet another part of the Marston chain. Both carvery and ordinary menu choices. At a menu price of 2 meals for £10 it is hard to grumble - although it is difficult to understand how someone can burn a fried egg. Adequate service but the experience is not enhanced when the server simply dumps the food in front of you and grunts 'enjoy' appearing to mean anything but that.
Wanted a coffee, quick find and stop here at the "horse&hound" Upon arriving, very clean and presentable outside area with carpark at rear. Walked in lovely warm feeling at first, until we seen staff. Went to the bar, women didn't great us we had to get her to notice us, she rudely called us over to her, quite lazy, had to repeat our coffee order 4 times to no smile or service interaction. Ordered two snack chips two lattes very small overpriced potato tasteless really! A Latte eh, was ok nothing special. Told need a table number with a poor attitude, I mean "little happier please if thats ok we are paying patrons after all" to then be looking round for good 4 mins seeing reserved on virtually every table. Whats that about I asked, to no answer. We found a table in the corner at the back. Lovely room, nice decor and ceiling art. Was calm quite so was nice. Women brings our chips over, dirty hands first, then no tray, butttt. Hardly any chips bowl slammed on the table with a right hump, bearing in mind we only just came in and ordered. First timers Then all the other tables set with condiments and we had to get our own off one them. Made it worse when a couple came in and sat table near us and got full service. Asked for mayo guy couldn't be arse Maybe she didn't like the fact I was with my boyfriend. We cleaned our table and lefted. Place, clean, tidy, public restroom clean, smoking area outside, carvery looked ok. Overall is what it is, my review of a coffee stop. Each to there own. Smile is golden
Newly renovated pub. Friendly staff. Big parking lot. Reasonable price. Loved the beef roast.
Superb lunchtime menu @ 2 for £10 plus really great carvery ..lots of outside seating with lawned garden area ..plenty of off road parking
The landlady was ever so pleasant and after about 8+years of not being there , ill definitely be going back. She was very informative polite and couldn't of been more helpful. Great menu with lots of choice. Nice atmosphere to. Nice looking place and the carvery was very nice and substantial.
The carvery was incredible! The pigs in blankets, Yorkshire puddings and meat was cooked to perfection. We used to go to another place but after it become run down we chose to come here, best decision we made.... The staff are polite, professional and welcoming. Really nice atmosphere, claiming, don't feel you have to rush off, plenty on the menu too. Thankyou
Ordered carvery for 2 people. The beef was inedible, like chewing meat flavoured rubber, almost bent the cutlery while trying to cut it. Choice for a carvery was very limited, should have had a look first. Even though a refund WAS provided, we won't be returning. Looking at other reviews it seems I'm not the only one.
