We had two nights at the Great Fosters. Great historical building with some very nice rooms. We got to stay at the Italian suite which was one of the nicest and weirdest rooms I've ever stayed in. Felt like a king. Strongly recommended for a British experience. Great service from Jake at the bar and Emma and everyone else at the reception. Pros: Warmed pool and jacuzzi were very nice - even in the rain. Great garden Well kept rooms Historical Good service Cons: Food at the bar was worse than average and the other restaurant not the Michelin one was okay but was expecting more for the price.
This is the 3rd time we have eaten at the hotel restaurant. We always go for roast Sunday lunch and it is always very pleasant. The dining room is amazing as is the hotel reception. We always eat the veal sunday roast and it is perfect as are the vegetables but I would like to comment that from the first time to this one, we noticed that the maturity of the meat has changed a lot. We remember the first time with a very matured meat with a great taste and texture and the second time we still feel the taste and texture of matured meat but not like the first time and last Sunday, it was not matured. All in all very good and we will surely repeat!
Beautiful building and place, although outside can hear the motorway. Suites were nice, however, blinds didn’t black out which was annoying. Wouldn’t call it 5 star when compared to other 5 star hotels I’ve experienced. There are a few small details, but the most serious is the breakfast: 1 Different chef different way of cooking from one day to the next. So the cooked breakfast wasn’t consistent for something as simple as scrambled eggs. 2 Breakfast isn’t good. Bakeries, tasted a bit stale or at least not fresh, cooked dishes very average, etc…Also, how can you have a Michelin star dinner the night before and then the next morning have such a sub par breakfast! Expectations were high. 3 The Michelin star restaurant was delightful- highly recommended. 4 The other restaurant was nice enough, although felt it was a little expensive vs what we ate. In summary, the breakfast lets this hotel down.
Last week a friend, who lives in Windsor she suggested having a coffee and pastry at Great Fosters while I was in town, delighted to have had the opportunity to see this magical place. Please stay or stop by. Great Fosters, a five-star hotel and Michelin-starred restaurant, offers a treat for all five senses. Nestled within its Tudor estate are incredible gardens that captivate visitors with their horticultural splendor. Meticulously shaped garden hedges resemble works of art, while the presence of a Saxon moat serves as a poignant reminder of the historical significance of this grand home. Additionally, the gardens reveal other well-preserved and unexpected gems, further enhancing the charm and allure of this remarkable destination. Whether indulging in a cup of coffee or tea or booking one of their amazing rooms, the experience at Great Fosters is sure to delight. Thanks for the recommendation Amy!
I have visited The Great Fosters on several occasions and always found both the customer service and food to be of a fantastic standard. Unfortunately, my most recent visit for Sunday lunch at The Estate Grill was extremely disappointing- with our food served to the wrong table, 30 minute delays for drinks amongst other mistakes- which ruined a birthday celebration. With only 2-3 other tables in attendance, there is no excuse for poor customer service at a restaurant of this quality and standing. I would not recommend the restaurant based on this experience, nor was I impressed by the response received from management when feedback was shared in private. It seems the customers experience is not valued at the Estate Grill- a poor representation of The Great Fosters.
From the moment we walked through the front door the welcome was friendly and consistent throughout our stay. The staff clearly take pride in and enjoy their customer care. Room service was also efficient. Valentino was an exceptional host in the stunning Estate grill restaurant and elevated our experience with a wonderful history of valentines day and how people in the old days where forbidden to love.
I came for afternoon tea and the grounds are beautiful however it was very expensive and absolutely not worth the price. The sandwiches were dry and the cakes were far too sweet. We were seated in our own room which was lovely but it meant that the service tended to be a bit slower as if we had been forgotten. They were using the corner of our room to store extra chairs which is just a minor gripe but it did make it feel a little downgraded. A pleasant enough experience had it not been for the price for which I expected better.
A fabulous stay here with a massage package. Dinner, bed and breakfast. Stayed in The Nursery Suite, beautiful rooms. Cannot fault any part of our stay, everything was 5 star.Rooms: 5/5
We had a beautiful time, and the doorman Joe is just fabulous. He is perfekt in service and a beautiful person. Thank you so much, Joe. The food was on very high standards.Rooms: 4/5
Great Fosters saved our Christmas! My family had issues with our Airbnb and had to seek out alternate accommodations. The Great Fosters staff set us up with three great rooms, and were incredibly engaged with our wellbeing. My wife and I have a five month old, and they set us up with a travel crib, brought room service on nights it wasn't offered, and assisted us whenever we had questions. The hotel is beautiful, well kept, and would make an awesome wedding venue. Would highly recommend Adam and his team. We will certainly be back when we visit my grandma in England again. Thank you, Great Fosters' team.
