My husband and I have been fans of self-catering holidays for a long time and early this year we traveled with our daughter for a short break at Glenavon House in Linlithgow, so that we could explore the castles and landmarks around Edinburgh and Stirling. I work as a history teacher and I was excited to stay at a property that has so much history of its own. We found the apartment accommodation clean, comfortable and ideal for discovering this part of Scotland. The apartment is accessed via its own side entrance, the ground-floor then comprises of a medium-sized kitchen, with seating for up to four people. A small staircase leads to the 1st floor living room, bathroom and a separate toilet and on the 2nd floor there are two good sized bedrooms, one double and one twin. Each room has been recently modernised and, although the bedrooms are not as grand as those in the main part of the house, we found the accommodation to be exactly what we needed - definitely one the best of the self-catering properties we have visited over recent years. Our hosts were welcoming and were able to provide some great recommendations on nearby places to visit and places to eat. For a tasty Sunday lunch we found The Park Bistro reasonably priced and after we'd eaten we enjoyed a stroll along the canal that runs alongside. Glenavon House is a beautiful property that I definitely hope to visit again.

Glenavon House provides an excellent location for exploring Linlithgow, Edinburgh and the surrounding area. This B&B was recommended to us by a friend and now I will be recommending it to all of my other friends! We enjoyed a romantic stay in the beautiful Lindsay room which has great views of the garden and a very impressive, newly decorated bathroom. Other parts of the house have also been recently updated and, while the house includes all mod-cons, period features have not been compromised. The house has a very cosy & traditional feel. During our stay we enjoyed sightseeing around Edinburgh, Stirling and Linlithgow; we even managed to squeeze in a round of golf - and this area of Scotland has so many courses to choose from! Our host, Sue, was incredibly welcoming and we even shared a 'wee' drink in the drawing room with her on our final evening there. Sue recommended the Champany Inn Chop House for great food and we were not disappointed! Amazing steaks and another beautiful, historical location. An incredible house, a great place to relax and a wonderful host. Highly recommended!

Wir waren im Juli 2011 für eine Nacht im Glenavon house bei Sue. Das Zimmer ist sehr gross, mit schönem Aussischt in den Garten, das Bett ist sehr bequem und das Bad ist überdeminsional gross. Wir hatten diese Nacht sehr genossen, die Gastgeberin Sue war sehr freundlich und ihr Frühstück war absolute klasse! Das Haus ist luxuriös, mit viel Geschmack und Liebe eingerichtet und hat unbeschreibliche Scharme. B&B ist sehr empfehlenswert, liegt in der Nähe von Edinburgh und um alle Extras voll zu geniessen muss man etwas länger als nur eine Nacht bleiben. Wir gehen im März 2012 wieder nach Schottland und werden uns freuen in Glenavon house für 4-6 Tagen bleiben zu dürfen.
