Rating the restaurant only as we're local so didn't stay. Booked a table for 5 my sons' birthday in-between Christmas and New Year. There was a reduced menu due to stock availability which was a shame as there was a good vegetarian selection in the ordinary menu. However, that just means a return visit is in order as this was lovely. There is a modern yet cosy, comfortable traditional feeling to the restaurant and pub. I've been a few times to the pub half with friends but never for a meal. First of all, the staff we're welcoming, kudos to the waitress who remembered our orders without taking notes - impressive. The portions were generous, the food tasty. My sons' girlfriends are both from other countries with excellent cuisine and they really enjoyed the food. We had chicken, haggis and vegetarian burgers and a fish & chips. Cleared plates all round. There was a choice of burger for the vegetarian option too. No room for dessert unfortunately but again, return visit is on the cards.
We went to Westport it was amazing, new menu still some of the old staff. We went a couple weeks ago and it was amazing chicken straps & soup starters amazing steak fritters so so good. Me and my friends stopped by this hotel due to a car breakdown.nnThe staff were amazing, the woman at the front was very hospitable, she offered free hot chocolate and let us sit near the fire as it was -7 degrees outside.nnGiven the time constraint of dealing with the recovery vehicle and the staff having to leave, they did not rush us and sorted out two rooms for us.nnThe rooms themselves were really nice, they had everything we needed, the beds were also very comfortable.nnHighly recommend staying here.
I was a guest who needed only feeding! Having driven 320 miles!! I had just the best food. The Sunday roast with the trio of meats were delicious! The pudding was amazing! Salted caramel cheesecake. The Merlot red wine was amazing so I purchased a bottle on my way out. I can’t recommend this place enough. The atmosphere, staff and food second to none. Thank you!
Went with a largish group…should have ordered a main meal as they all looked pretty good…I opted for 3 starters and they were disappointing..chicken goujons frozen probably with a watery buffalo mayo, rendang bites that were just plain weird tasting and possibly the worst prawn cocktail I’ve seen…£8.50 for a small bowl with lettuce some prawns and Marie Rose sauce. …shame cos as a local foodie I like eating out..I’d only recommend the mains though
