Story

We are delighted to welcome you to our continental -style restaurant and coffee house in the Lake District. We are sure you will agree the atmosphere is ambient and the food great,so you can dine in style and comfort.

Francine’s is a relaxed and friendly bistro-styled restaurant with an a-la-carte menu and daily additions boards available with a great wine list and a large selection of local speciality ales.

Evenings are especially popular with people seeking a quieter place to eat well. Seafood is our passion at Francine’s with freshly prepared lobster in various dishes with large bowls of steaming mussels and fish casseroles.

Daytime at Francine’s for a coffee or tea with homemade cakes, biscuits or scones or for that special lunch from our extensive lunchtime menu.

Our beautiful restaurant and coffee house will seat up to 40 people and we are sure that whatever the occasion Francine’s is the place to come and celebrate .

Everyone really enjoyed their meal here, would definitely recommend booking in advance. Food was good, service was very good. Overall, not bad at all! I had the smoked salmon terrine which was very tasty! could've done with maybe some crackers . Seafood casserole was okay, quite a large portion and you have to fight with the crustaceans to eat them. Eton mess was very good. More expensive then a normal meal but you pay for the experience!
Inspiring canapes and starters but the wine wasn't chilled properly. It's imperative for a seafood restaurant to serve wine at the correct temperature. When I pointed out that the bottle and sleeve weren't cold enough and asked for a colder sleeve the response was "But it's just come out of the freezer". Well it couldn't have been in there very long. We were told there wasn't another sleeve and were brought some ice to put in the glasses instead. I was very excited to try the seafood casserole but we both found the sauce to be strangely sweet which overpowered the otherwise beautifully cooked fish and seafood.
If you're going to come here I would definitely recommend the seafood casserole. It might be a bit pricey but it's definitely worth it. Every mouthful was delicious. The service was great too.
Excellent. Dined here for an anniversary celebration while staying in Windermere. Busy little restaurant with great quality food cooked perfectly. Couldn't fault it. Would recommend booking in advance.
I had the lobster bisque and seafood casserole. Both were made of fresh ingredients and deliciously prepared. Service was on point and I felt welcomed. Make sure you call and book ahead as tables are often booked up for evenings!
Seafood casserole was incredible. Clams were also very tasty. Staff are lovely and dog friendly too.

Really lovely food and service. We had the goats cheese mushroom starter which was faultless and the 'Pig on a plate' dish as a main which included delicious pork belly and pig cheek- generous portion and tonnes of flavour. Our friends got the seafood pasta which they raved about. Great spot for dinner but recommend booking as they were booked out which is no surprise on a week night. Thoroughly recommend!
I have a few intolerances and managed to speak to Francine beforehand. They checked which dishes could be adapted and changed some to accommodate me. The mussels were cooked in a white wine sauce and had a really subtle flavour. Served with plain and rosemary, olive oil bread. I had Francine's special seafood pasta and it was the best seafood dish I've ever had. Clams, mussels, langoustines and prawns were well cooked, the seabass was fatty and had a crispy skin and the pasta was slightly al dente, soaking up the sauce well. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back if I'm ever in the lake district again! Dietary restrictions: My intolerances include milk, butter, garlic, onion and asparagus
Wow - what a spot in Windermere. This seafood restaurant was top notch and really an amazing experience. We had excellent communication and the staff were so friendly. The menu had plenty of offerings and the wine options were first class. A gem in a town that was limited in culinary options
