Well, I liked the Chicken and Ham hock pie, with mash, brocoli, peas, beans, gravy. Was very nice! Local to where I stay for work so will be returning definitely. Pretty decent!
Been waiting an hour for our food, place wasn't even busy when we ordered. When we asked they say they're plating up the food, that was 10 minutes ago. How long does it take to make a sandwich and a burger? *Update food is here finally, no apologies from staff, food is bland and definitely not worth the wait.
Pro's: Nice food. Good prices. Nice people. Con's : We were with three. First already finished his dinner when we got served.
Just walked out of this pub for a disgraceful lunch. Ordered a child's penne pasta, a caesar salad, chicken tenders, and a steak dinner. We waited approximately 30 minutes before someone came out and said there was no tomato sauce for the pasta. Guys.. There's literally a Tesco across the road, go buy some if you're out? And why would you wait 30 minutes after you've cooked it before telling us? Then the caesar salad came out... With hardly any lettuce and half melted Grated mozzarella on top. The menu said 'hard cheese'. When questioned on this, the server said: we don't do hard cheese. Finally there was a big black hair on one the mushrooms on the steak dinner. We gave up and asked for a refund and left confused and disappointed.
The location is nice. The food was prepared well, but some dishes were ruined by poor quality of ingredients. The dessert was really poor, both in preparation and ingredients. The service was extremely slow 1:45 for a main and a dessert it's seriously too much. Igine was seriously "improvable". This a place has potential, and could be really better, if they will they care of details. I'm actually sorry for the single star, but honestly, this is the only rating possible for the today's experience.
Visited one night while down at a nearby hotel on a weekend visit. The staff at The Fox are extremely friendly and welcoming and seemed to be busy around the pub while not serving. We ordered food here which was extremely well priced and I was pleasantly surprised to really enjoy my dinner, so much so, I noticed the Chef behind the bar talking to another staff member so I went over to thank him and especially for the chicken gravy!!! The pub is very spacious so you can hide away if you want, has a garden area too plus a TV if you want to watch sport programmes. Lots of parking and a nice setting. I would go again in a heart beat if in the area.
Always a good hearty meal and great value too. Lovely piece of fish, Chef. This is our first choice when we are on the way back from London. It is a shame we don,t live closer. Lively sports area or quieter restaurant to suit all preferences. The small staffing team work very hard to please. Thanks guys.
The pub was pretty empty and the 3 members of staff on duty looked stressed & ready to quit. They put on a brave face & did the best they could. We had one lady behind the bar, a young lady waiting on tables & the chef in the background praying no more food orders came in!!!! Food menu was very limited with no stock available. My burger was ok. My wife enjoyed the pie & mash. Such a shame as the pubs in a great location & could do well if it was funded & supported more. I wouldn't rush to go back.
I've only been here once for a work meal. I had a good time and the food came out at a decent pace especially since there more than 15 orders. I had the chicken burger with garlic mayo and chips, it was ok but couldn't taste the garlic mayo whatsoever. The staff members were nice and friendly, would recommend this pub.
