My favourite coffee shop in Newcastle. Drink coffee the way it's meant to taste, made by someone who is extremely passionate about good coffee. Just talk to Joe and you'll soon discover there is a whole world behind coffee that you might not have known about. It's situated below street level in the Elula shop, so can be slightly tricky to find at first, however that makes it such a hidden gem and adds to the character of the place. Love it :
One of my favourite boltholes in Newcastle, partly because the location go down a small iron spiral staircase in the corner of the Elula shop gives it a slightly down-the-rabbithole feel! The coffee has deservedly won awards. The menu is small, but everything on it is good, and the cakes are great. Bonus points for having a big jug of water and glasses out on the counter so you don't have to ask for them. I would make two comments: a the service isn't the fastest - you come for the coffee artistry, and you get excellent coffee, but it takes time to make, b the spiral staircase may be tricky for anyone with mobilty issues.
Excellent coffee but don't expect your order in a hurry if there are a few customers seated. I returned there last Saturday but after waiting 25 mins for 1 coffee and 1 drinking chocolate, was given my money back. It has put me off returning on a Saturday but maybe ok when it's quiet.
Nice enough coffee, but the location is in a basement of a new age hippy place. No indication it's there from outside. Quite uncomfortable seating. Low ceilings. Incense almost overpowers the coffee aroma. Hopefully their Kickstarter will come through and their new location will be much better. Please stock Monmouth too...
nice hidden den of amazing coffee. serves tea, sweet treats, toasties, and salads or soups seasonal excellent for anyone wanting to expand there coffee tastes or grab a brew. offers sitting in and takeaway food and drink. extensive selection of coffee and brewing methods including the famous syphon.
A nice selection of coffees, and it's quiet and relaxing during the day. Good atmosphere, but not an ideal place to work. I can never get on any of the nearby wi-fi networks, and my phone signal is flakey. It's a good place to go to chat with friends though.
Outstanding coffee, really good food. A hidden gem in the city centre. Joe always willing to offer his expert advice on coffee.
Three different types of coffee done how you like them, what more could you ask for?
Really interesting space, in the basement of a gift/curiosity shop but still quite cosy. Coffee from Colonna.
A hidden gem! situated underneath another shop. great coffee
