Quaint pub, lovely atmosphere and staff. Some items not available but the staff were apologetic as this was beyond their control. Instead they offered helpful alternatives which did not disappoint. Drinks were thirst quenching. Food was outstanding, good sized portions. We were full with just the main, but pushed through for dessert and we are glad we did! CHRISTMAS NOTE: member of staff had the best Christmas blazer ever!!
Lovely setting.. and really nice food - particularly the sticky toffee pudding! Our only recommendation to the owner.. mango chutney with the curry please :- .

Totally fully booked for Christmas dinner and everyone appeared to be there at the same time. That lead, understandably, to longer waits for courses. However, the quality of the food was worth waiting for and, although the staff were under pressure, they never let it show and coped well. We, personally, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and left well stuffed.
Nice Sunday roast but veg quantity was small. New Risotto not as nice as the old one! Staff very attentive. Mini dessert option good but not with hot chocolate, not mentioned on menu!
What a terrible disappointment! I wanted to go there for a while. The place's lovely, my waitress was very nice but the food was just bad! I had the seabass & scallop risotto, the rice was crunchy and the two tiny scallops were burnt. When I told the manager that this dish was not to standard and certainly not worth £16...he replied that the pub is a chain so nothing is cook in place, and that my meal was a frozen dish reheated in the microwave. I said that I was going to eat it as I do not want to waste food but the manager did not offer to exchange or a discount on my bill. What a shame!!
We’ve been to the fishermen rest many times but found our last visit very disappointing. It was my Husband Birthday so thought this was a good way to celebrate. We found the starter we all had which was the mushrooms was over cooked and full of oil which wasn’t good enough. And the burgers that was order was very disappointing
Had booked a table but they had no record of it, food very disappointing, my lasagne had a strange texture, very stoggy pasta. Chips hardly cooked, in hindsight should have sent it back. Would definitely not go back.
Visited yesterday after a look round the Christmas barn, and was very disappointed with the new menu!! We both decided on the sea bass risotto with scallops...omg, I have never had such a bad meal!! The risotto was stodgy, and the scallops were obviously frozen as they were completely tasteless and watery! We did complain and had one of our meals refunded.... should have stayed at the barn and had a burger!!
Probably a great pub to have drinks but not so good for food, under cooked pasta which had to be sent back twice, and a extremely over cooked chicken burger, plus rosemary skin on chips, clearly rosemary isn't in the chefs ingredients as there wasn't any rosemary seasoning what so ever. Friendly staff who were happy to help but I think the chef needs to lessons in the kitchen.
