Stayed 3 nights in September. Room was very quiet and had a TV with many free channels. The bathroom was very large however the floor could do a refit. Tea facilities were available in the room however no fridge. The breakfast was excellent if you chose from the menu included in my reservation. Customer service was very nice. I tried adjusting the shower head but noticed it was coming off the pipe. Very clean.
Walking into reception through a large, open archway you are greeted by very friendly and helpful staff members. We stayed in a family room which was so well set out it was joyful. There was a double bed and 2 proper single beds, not the metal framed things you sometimes find. The room, and indeed the whole establishment is very clean and gives out a happy feeling. There is car parking at the rear which is included in the cost of the room. The quality of the food is excelent with portion sizes that guarantee you will not be hungry.
Excellent establishment with a wide variety on offer - from food and drink to rooms. Reasonably priced and well presented fayre in a clean and airy setting. Ample parking to the rear of the building makes for a handy 'stop off' if required. Rooms are spacious and clean, beds are comfortable and bathrooms are very functional. One slight criticism being the lack of sockets by the bed to charge phones I use my phone for an alarm but no real problem. A very pleasant stay all in all - with thanks to all of the team at the Red Lion
Nice ambience and attentive charming table service. However they were unable to offer gluten free pie do my wife had the standard version of the steak pie which was disappointing unfortunately. We will return but perhaps the pie could be improved with finer meat content
Excellent hotel. Staff couldn't be any nicer. Food & choice of food is 1st class. Rooms are a wee bit dated but very clean & well kept. I would highly recommend the Red Lion. We'll definitely be back in the summer.Rooms: 4/5
The tiny rocking table was in a fire place. The nachos bore no resemblance to any nachos I have ever eaten, my partner sent his burger back and refused any replacement. My risotto was the consistency soup with rice. Not an experience we are ever likely to repeat. The waitress was a delight.
Clearly popular to many. Efficient service but cannot recommend food quality... Overcooked..- burnt and 'uncuttable' pie plus 'packet mash' ??? potato. had this vetted by my wife...synthetic taste. Horrible. Wife and son not enamoured either. Wont eat here again. Pubs are best sticking to few basics, principally a Sunday Roast and other few simple dishes. Done well.x
I really enjoyed my stay here the room was comfortable it had everything you expect, en suite, tv, tea making facilities and a comfy bed . I only stayed 2 nights and dined in the restaurant on both nights the food was lovely, breakfast is great with good coffee . Parking is free if you are staying at the hotel but you must register your vehicle at reception.
The room was nice, bed was large and comfy however it was very hot, they had a fan but didn't make much difference. Aircon would have been great. We booked the restaurant for dinner in the evening and the waitress was great as my partner has intollerances so needed to check the ingredients. So with high hopes we ordered dinner but were very disappointed. Dry chips, the steak pie maybe had one bit of steak in the whole pie and pastry wasn't great. My partner got fairly overcooked dry chicken breast with cheese and bacon and limp dry salad on the side. Breakfast I was dreading but was delicious. Full English and eggs cooked how you would hope. Overall a mixed bag but would visit again in colder months and eat dinner elsewhere.
Christmas party with close friends. The staff were so friendly and dancing around making it feel all Christmassy. The three course Christmas meal so was tasty with generous helpings....I had Halloumi fries, turkey dinner and lemon Tarte. It was delicious. This is our 5 year in a row and will definitely go back next year... Nice touch was they refunded the car park charges.
