A must visit for anyone looking for a good classic pub serving hearty pub-grub meals, a really beautiful location next to the river. You can choose to sit indoors or out, both offering plenty of space and seating. The interior is absolutely fantastic, a really authentic old English pub, this alone was worth the visit. It's a really beautiful place. So start I ordered the Muscles and was not disappointed, served with a nice broth, a slice of bread and a decent amount of them, served nice and hot and very tasty. For the main I got the Sea Bass Risotto, with Scallops and Prawns. Very tasty, although I think it could have been slightly better if the risotto was served with the Arborio rice, this was served with standard rice which let it down a bit. The risotto itself could have also used a bit more flavor, but thankfully the fish and the scallops were very tasty and made up for that. Overall, I'd rate my particular food a 4 out of 5, but I'm whacking it up to a 5 out of 5 just because of the fantastic location, feel and atmospheric attraction that the pub provided. I inspected some other items from the menu as well such as the lamb shoulder, fish and chips and steaks. I have to say l, these were delicious. It could just be the Risotto that needs a little bit of modifying to meet the standards of the rest. Overall though, lovely food, lovely location and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely return again.
A lovely old pub located next to the river Ouse. Lots of character and atmosphere. Really good beer and the food is good, tasty pub grub. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. My only criticism is that it took a bit of time before our food order was taken but after that, the service was prompt. Will definitely return.
Beautiful little pub and hotel, the room was lovely and clean, food was fantastic and definitely worth the money. We had the package that included 3 course meal, bed and breakfast. Staff were lovely, We would definitely return
Great spot for fish n chips, family style homemade food. Nice location on the water with picnic tables for outdoor dining when it warms up a bit. Friendly staff, very comfortable.
I live in Holywell, St Ives. The Old Ferryboat Inn is one of the oldest pubs in England, if not the oldest, and has been there for nearly 1000 years. It’s in a beautiful setting by the river but had been neglected over recent years. But all that has changed since the new landlady Claire took over. The whole place has been refurbished and the pub is once again welcoming and is much used by locals and visitors. The staff are all helpful and competent and the food is good and available all day. There are hotel rooms available too. Various events take place in the function room from dinners, art exhibitions and music events. We couldn’t ask for a better village pub.
Nothing like your regular pub. Located in a brilliant setting right next to the river, serving mouth-watering food and drinks! Absolute Bliss. Highly recommended!
Our group of 11 friends had a lovely evening at the Old Ferry Boat Inn. We went on the 17th March, which happened to be St Patrick's Day and the anniversary of the death of Juliet who's grave can be found in the bar area. What a lovely venue for a get together. The old ferry boat Inn is one of the oldest pubs in England. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A good choice on the menu and selection for gluten free and vegetarian. Alas we had to leave at 11.00pm as some of us had to be up at 4am for work and missed Juliet's ghost which folklore says comes around the bar at midnight. Mark
Advertising about brunch Saturday and Sunday till noon, was told we couldn't have that today at 11am. Young girl behind bar this morning was not very welcoming, tables outside were dirty with glasses and plates. Nice view in a lovely area so could be really nice, just an unfortunate visit for us today
Great place, had a meal in the function room for a family birthday. Great service and the food was brilliant value for money. Nice location and atmosphere
Very disappointing, the pub is very picturesque and well presented by the river. Its serves some good draught beers and the wine list looked okay. However on the night I was staying there was no food available as the kitchen was closed for refurbishment, therefore no breakfast either. The room was small, the bed was uncomfortable and old, the bathroom was not very clean and had not been updated since at least the 90s. The TV did not work and there was no air con so the room was very hot. The windows were dirty and the curtains dusty. There were no staff around in the morning to hand a key back to. There was rubbish left in the stairwell when I checked in and was still there the next day. The dining room looked dated and tired.
