We were notified our vehicle booking was canceled just 12 hours before collection. Tried ringing branch to be placed on hold gave up after 55 mins on hold. Europcar have taken our money and said we will get it refunded in 14 days! Spoke to customer services who didn't care and just said the refund would be processed within 3 days and refunded in 14. Literally diabolical
Europcar UK Customer Services & Europcar Geneve Aeroport Cote Français Do not rent a car from here. The europcar UK website allows you to book a car, I even had it confirmed by email that the car was suitable for winter conditions by europcar customer services. Upon arriving in Geneva to collect the car they told me this car category didn't exist, was not available and I would have to pay for an upgrade. I note in the reviews this has happened to other people. They are falsely advertising their product and will hit you when you have no other option but to upgrade. This is fraudulent, borderline criminal activity.
This is one company I WILL NEVER RECCOMEND. Untrustyworthy management. Personal experience July 2019 caused harm to my family and I due to a breach of confidence and data by a colleague in a supervisory position.. Higher manager was waste of time speaking to. HR should vet people being put in trustworthy positions.
Don't waste a moment of your time on this company. If you must, use a telephone. You'll find yourself hanging up pretty quickly though. They want you to book online. "Quicker and easier online" has become one of the biggest lies of the 21st century - and we fall for it because sometimes we have no choice. EUROPCAR shows you a price for what you want then when you go back to book it the price has increased, sometimes by 50%. Today I clicked 'pay now' for the best price I was offered for 4 days hire £197. 3 minutes later, having filled in all required details, including my visa card details, I hovered above the 'submit' button when I noticed the price I was paying was now £253 even though the original price was still showing in the summary. So I ditched the website and telephoned. To cut a long story short - the poor man listened to my story then said he could only offer the same hire for £325. What's happening?
Europcar is the worst and I mean this in the most unparalleled, peak dissatisfaction I can muster, THE WORST company I have ever dealt with. They falsely charged me €250 for lost keys even though I have pictures and a video of me handing them in! 2 months later I am STILL fighting to get my money back. To add insult to injury, they also charged me £168 for a 34 minute phone call...!!! Unbelievable. Luckily EE have stepped to help. If Europcar were the last car hire company on earth, I would rather chew off my own arms and legs and crawl to my destination on my tongue than use their services.
I have given 1 star because it is the only way you can comment. If I could I would give a minus score to reflect the extent to which I would actively discourage anyone from using this company. I am considering legal action for being leased a van that was unroadworthy and will be claiming compensation for the significant on costs and stress of trying to get the issue sorted, which involved a 24 hour wait and spending the night in the van at a motor way service station. Avoid at all costs
I can’t give any star...my partner ia a registered disabled person..we agreed to rent a car through the disability process...my partner had to give her bank card details and a £1 deposit for the car rental..we had the car for 7 weeks and the mileage we did was around 650 miles..after handing the car back the week after we got a message from the bank saying this company tried to take out £2,100 for over use of mileage which they had recorded us doing..9,000 miles I was gob smacked ..thankfully the bank didn’t do the transaction and no money was taken out..as the bank queried it first...good job the bank did..we have tried several times to phone ..email to seek compensation for there error ..they did send an email saying it was there error...but we have had to cancel the card wait to get a new one..spent money and time phoning them and emailing them...Graham Blackwell was dealing with it but now I can’t get hold of him and now they are ignoring my emails...well this is not the end on our behalf and shall seek compensation...disgusting company...we even went to the branch in Northampton where a manageress showed no remorse for the error...now we have been informed she has been sacked so we are in the dark wether she tried to get the money..?..never again..
Nightmare from beginning to end. Takes at least 15 minutes to get through them on their national line. Was used because company didn't have any loan cars. Arrived late with car eventually after 3 calls. Was told I had to give my card info for fuel if I didn't fill up. I received car full. When I returned it it was full but was still charged. They had said we hadn't needed copy of paperwork when returning car but had agreed car was full on collection..... Also took them a week to collect car once my car was back on the road, even went to the wrong place to collect.
Shambles of a rental company. Easy enough to book a car and them take money off you but if you need any customer service, don't expect it. Took money from my bank unannounced weeks after returning the car... sent me about 5 invoices that made no sense. Sheffield branch literally unreachable by phone, I wasted hours on hold trying to get through to discuss when they were collecting the car as it sat on my street for 2 weeks. Europe customer service no idea what they are doing and constantly getting put on hold. Finally resolved my issue after a month of constant calling, complaining and shouting down the phone. Now they are trying to take £75 off me, again with no reason yet expecting us to pay. Disgusting, go elsewhere.
Don't hire a car from these people. Their service is appalling. They will come up with any excuse to not pay your deposit back, or they will try and keep it for as long as possible before paying it back. If you do get it back it will most likely be several weeks after you returned the car. Their customer service team are rude and unhelpful and will often just put the phone down on you rather than answer questions. Europcar is an absolutely pathetic company. I don't know how they manage to stay in business. I certainly will not be hiring from them ever again.
