EDIT [FEB 2018]: If I could lower my review further, I would.  Europcar claimed they would charge my credit card, but did not.  They passed the case on to a third party that is charging me a late fee on an invoice I never received.  This company is terrible.

EDIT [OCT 2017]: reducing my review because intracting with Europcar has been difficult. They invoiced over $400 for a small scratch not covered by the damage waiver I had. The email for correspondance on these matters bounced. My company is likely going to swallow this expense, but I've never had such a poor experience with a car hire agency.

I really didn't have much luck with this branch. It is a bit out of the way from city center/Reading station & my cab driver drove past it. As a smaller location, the wait time was a bit longer than I'm used to.

But my real problem was in the return.  I left the car in a space in the front, the agent inspected it, writing down mileage and other details and drove the car into the garage.  Once there, he presumably noticed a scratch there that neither of us saw when it was in the space I parked it in. Scratches happen. It could've been there when I picked up the car (scratches on the rear bumper that I didn't notice were listed on "existing damage") or I could've caused it. I said he should have pointed out the scratch before driving the car into the garage. Instead of saying that he didn't see it originally & that he would document this as part of the accident report, he got very huffy & said I was accusing him of scratching the car. I said this was not the case & he said it was what I had been "implying". They sent an email saying that they were assessing damage to see what to charge me, although my employer's contract carries CDW and they won't be able to charge anything more.

I will avoid this location for my personal rentals.

Good place to hire cars but is far from Town center. We hired online and all online hires after shop gets closed are not updated and hence we did not get the mentioned car. But overall the staff was good in arranging another car.

Great prices, cool offices kind staff and if you are clever you can park your car for the weekend in front of this site.

Our rental experience was flawless. My husband and I picked up a new Fiat in Reading and the staff was terrific. The service was quick, polite and thoughtful. The young man took time to print out directions to Bath for us as well as reviewing the car's features, (right hand  drive!) 

We returned the Fiat in Cambridge and that experience was even better. We were running late and the manager actually stayed after hours to meet us then arranged for a cab to take us to the train station. 

This is an excellent company to secure a rental from in Europe.
