Went to have lunch and watch the football and had a great time! There were loads of screens up with multiple different games on so you could watch the one you wanted and if they aren’t showing the one you want I’m sure if you ask they’ll switch the channel on one of the many screens. We ordered small plates to have a “tapas” lunch and everything was so good!!
I first visited this pub a few weeks back with my mum when we went to Manchester to watch a show, today we went again to Manchester to watch another show and we had to visit this place again for lunch. On both occasions the food and service was definitely 5 star, the pub has a great feel when you walk in and the staff are very welcoming. The prices for both food and drink are also very reasonable. When we went today we noticed there'd been a menu change which I was a little disappointed about because I wanted to order what I'd had the first time but it was no longer on the menu. When I spoke to a member of staff about the new menu I mentioned what I'd ordered the first time, he then took it upon himself to go and ask the chef if it would he possible for me to have the philly steak sub roll even though it was no longer on the menu, the chef said this was okay so I was able to have what I wanted. That is definitely what I would call 5 star service Special shout out to Phil who was the member of staff that sorted everything for me today and thank you for another wonderful lunch ** The picture attached is from my first visit as I forgot to take one today ‍
Atmosphere I've given 3 only because personal preference is for somewhere a little quieter. Think also it was busy as we went on a Saturday afternoon. Service I have to say was one to one young lady on the bar and one young lad bringing food out plus condiments and cutlery. They did a good job if a little slow. But I did feel for them as there were 4 other staff, and I would see having a chat to the corner of the bar. The food took a while to come out, but I put that down to a table of 6 ordering before us. However, the macaroni cheese was delicious, as was the sticky toffee pud. I was able to get in the double doors with help from staff as I pushed my husband in his wheelchair . I didn't see an disabled toilet, and if there was a lift for wheelchair users to access their secret garden.
This place was absolutely awful. Went for breakfast and ordered a full english. The food took 40 minutes to come even though there was only us and and one other couple in the whole pub. When it did come the food was shoddily undercooked, particularly the egg, and here’s the best part which I’ve included a picture of: I had genuinely about 13 baked beans on my plate. In a full english that cost £9 . Abysmal, wouldn’t go back if it was the last place in Manchester open.
Arrived mid afternoon on a Sunday. Was told no Sunday lunch on arrival, no dramas we weren’t there for that just some food and a few drinks. Pub wasn’t overly busy but enough people about. Went to order at the bar a beef pie and a fish and chips, beef pie not available, so went for the chicken and ham. Tried to order fish and chips, this also isn’t available. Went for hunters chicken. Food arrived and looked aesthetically pleasing, but the veg definitely wasn’t fresh, and we couldn’t tell if the mash was out of a packet or not despite the menu labeling it creamy and buttery and the pie wasn’t all that. Hunters chicken was watery and I didn’t eat it after 2/3 bites. Chips were out of a bag and soggy. A bit disappointing. Tables were sticky and very wobbly also which isn’t a massive deal but just added to the disappointment really.
Good spot to catch f1. Great crowd show up and good vibe. My complaint is - they have a single sound system. Aside from the “main screen” in the corner, all the rest were showing f1 and had table full of f1 crowd, but later they had the football sound on for the whole pub. Still would recommend.Food: 5/5
ordered some starters, was told after paying for a deal, that one wasn’t available, so we understood and changed the food, then food took ages to come, despite being only one of a couple of tables eating. when food came eventually, they had forgotten about the rest which turned up twenty minutes later, and cold. we sent back the food and took over half an hour to simply be heated up. not really good enough considering barely any other customers eating and being a relatively quiet atmosphere, so felt disappointed. some helpful staff at the bar, including nice girl, who helped out on her break, and a rushed waiter who appeared stressed with a lot of work, but overall not satisfied at all.
Amazing place to watch F1. Great atmosphere, tasty food, and great beer offerings. Get yourself early to catch a seat before F1 starts.Food: 5/5
Situated opposite the food court of the Arndale shopping centre. First visit in about 5 years. Can get very busy but fine on a Wednesday lunchtime. Had a choice of Landlord or Doom Bar; no choice really..excellent Landlord. A Moorhouses beer waiting to be ready to serve. Fairly standard food menu. £12.50 fish n chips, £12.49 pie n mash. Similar price for burgers. Well worth a visit. Two upstairs rooms and a small secret roof garden.
Visited Sunday to meet friends, have been a number of times in the past and it has always been ok, but today was below par. Firstly there was an overwhelming smell of drains in the pub, we advised the staff and someone came around and sprayed air freshener which masked it for about 5 minutes. Don't know what's causing it, as it wasn't the toilets, they smelt fine, but they need to sort it out as it's very off putting. They got our drinks order wrong and when I queried it, they pretty much implied we'd ordered wrong on the app, so we had to show them it wasn't our fault and it was clearly a glitch on the app. The Sunday dinners our friends ordered were ok, as was the all day breakfast, but the mash potato on 3 meals was hard and dry, and the"roast" veg was very very roasted. Will give the place a miss for a few months and see if anything changes.
