The IMAXX screen is gorgeous, and we love lounging on the beds on the front row. Food and drink are very expensive though, almost becoming not an option at the cinema at all. I'd advise bring your own treats/drinks.
Omniplex is a recent “glow up” of the previous Empire cinema, a dated and run down venue. But this cinema now feels fresh, updated and back on par with the competition. I was privileged enough to experience the MAX screen, fitted with comfy recliner seats and sofas at the front. We have recently signed up to the monthly pass, costing around £11 but giving you access to unlimited films, a great idea with the only catch being a 3 month minimum sign up. I think this is such good value for money as it is as cheap as a ticket alone. I can not vouch for the food and drink, as in any cinema the prices are extortionately marked up but will follow up when we do sample to cinema cuisine. Overall a brilliant experience, great value, helpful staff, If every screen was like the MAX it would be a five star!
Watched a film in the Maxx screen today and it’s definitely worth the extra cost of the tickets, seats were really comfortable and the sound system was amazing. The new set up of ordering then collecting at the counter saves time and stops you waiting in a queue behind someone who can’t make their mind up. Omniplex cinema is a vast improvement from the Empire cinema that was there before.
I unfortunately give 2star for the following things: 1. old popcorn you could feel the taste that they are at least 1 day old 2. bad smell inside the screens + old seats 3. You cannot pay cash when ordering food
Visited mid-afternoon to the new Maxx screen. Completely refitted, with deep carpets, all new, extremely comfy chairs. Sound and vision v impressive. Staff friendly and ,enthusiastic about their workplace. Prices reasonable and less than previous owners, Empire. Could not fault the visit.
Having been visiting this cinema for years , I'm not entirely happy with the way you have to order tickets, food etc on a screen, felt like I was in Mc Donalds, all before you go to the counter. Very expensive too. £40 for two with nachos and one coke. Can't buy reduced senior citizens tickets either, unless for on a certain day of the week. On the plus side, the seats are much better, really comfortable with loads of leg room. I suppose they have to claw the money back somehow.
Lovely brand new maxx screen with leather reclining seats, including sofas, fab sound system.
The best cinema in the Midlands in my opinion. Very accessible, plenty of free parking on site, and on main bus routes. There are several screens, including a fantastic new IMAX auditorium soon to be two!. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The cinema is always clean and well presented, and I always feel comfortable and safe whenever i visit. Top marks!
Was a lovely evening. However. I thought the drinks and food ordering was slightly poor. As you phycology didn't see anything being purchased. Before going to collect it. It had no cash either. Whole cinema is card only
This is our favourite local cinema which has recently changed to Omniplex and installed their new MAXX screen with all Recliner seating and even Sofa / Day bed seats. These are amazingly comfortable and the screen is huge and sound is fantastic. Always a great experience and staff are super friendly. Drinks and snacks selection is good and popcorn is usually fresh. We especially enjoy the MAXX screen for big action blockbusters and Screen 13 for more emotional drama and smaller films. Edit August 2024: Even more impressed with the continued improvements to this cinema. More screens are being improved and upconverted to MAXX. Only downside are the Mens Toilets. They need work as always seem smelly and are in disrepair.
