I read one of the reviews on here about this place being soulless...obviously everyone on here has an opinion that needs listening to but the sad fact is NO city/place in my opinion will ever get the funding for arts that London gets, so as humble as the MAC is and as pretentious as art can be on occasion..we have to support our local Art places. Anyway, the MAC is a great place to enjoy good food in a large, open stylish place. Cannon Hill park is worth a visit especially on a quiet day
Food is a tad expensive but it's pretty good quality. Customer service is excellent. A young girl called Chantelle really went out of her way to help my son who has autism. The place is clean and generally pleasant plus it's surrounded by parkland and thing to do for the kids, boating extVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
This is an arts centre so it has art work on display, shows / plays going on. Has a cinema inside to go watch films. Theres also a bar and cafe serving warm, cold and alcoholic beverages. Same with the food. Has disabled accessible entrances, lifts and toilets along with toilets available to the public
Modern facilities but soulless. The outside is an ugly mixture of unkempt functional architecture and brash, upbeat marketing decorations. Both the front and back entrance are not welcoming spaces, the latter from the car parks being quite narrow. The meeting rooms & suites, bar area and cafés look and feel up to date with everywhere looking smart and clean. A little too much so as the entire place lacks character or atmosphere leading to a sterile feeling. Display areas, even for the same exhibition, can spread out and one is in the small café making it awkward to see. Small corridors are also used not allowing the viewer to stand back from the display. The gift shop is stupidly expensive easily beating some London museums in pricing. The goods and books seem aimed at serious arty types and, although I'm one, I still wouldn't pay £7 for a fridge magnet. Parking can be a nightmare if there's more than one event on and impossible if there's a match at neighbouring Edgbaston Cricket ground. Be aware that the parking area is split into two so make sure you pay at the right pay station for where you've left your car. RingGo app works works well here though.
A great visit to Grayson Perry's Art Club exhibition. Well located, easy access with friendly staff. Great Coffee!! A fantastic art resource. Well worth a visit. The exhibition was well curated. Some items very moving and thought provoking, showing the wide range of British cultural talent.
I used the centre to meet up a school friend. We hadn't seen each other for 50 years. The reason we used the centre was there was no car parking at his house so we met there. The disabled parking and toilets were fine and we used the cafe for food and drinks. Good facilities, I would use it again.
An arts space that feels welcoming and fresh! Set on the back of Cannon Hill Park it hosts an array of local and international artists, in its various gallery spaces. It also hosts live performances such as plays, and screenings of films. The main gallery upstairs is simply amazing. It has a gift shop, a bar and a restaurant. Even without visiting the various exhibitions it is a place you can simply meet up with friends for lunch or a drink. Would definitely recommend. Ps it is also outside the clean air zone!
I came to MAC for the first time and I was very impressed. This building is situated in the park, so there is lots to do on a lovely summers day out. I ate in the cafe and was very happy with the service. I thought Jane waitress was very friendly. She smiled and did what she could to assist you.
Beautiful gardens. Lovely walks. Great places to eat and drink. Friendly and helpful staff.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
I have been watching movies in the MAC for over 15 years. How refreshingly exciting it was to walk into the new building and watch the world cinema including old Hollywood movies in the beginning. A lack of investment has unfortunately seen being left behind with the times. Just try to buy their online cinema ticket and see how old and clunky the system is. Forget about paying for the ticket on contactless with your phone. Their card readers are so old that they don't accept contactless payments. Sad really.
