I have just been reading the reviews of this place and I will be honest most of the bad reviews seem to be all about the same issue and I mean the exact same, like someone asked their friends to write multiple reviews on the same thing. Now I can’t talk about how renting actually is with this estate agent, but I am about to start my lease and so far had no issues getting someone on the phone, very friendly staff. Very quick and responsive and no issue when viewing the properties. I will update this review in the near future once I am actually a tenant, but for now amazing company
The best Estate Agent in Chorlton in my humble opinion without the over the top nonsense! Nothing is ever a problem and they do exactly what it says on the tin, no fuss no glitter, just honest advise and evaluation based on years of experience that is bang on the money each and every time I’ve used their services. Wouldn’t hesitate to return
After unexpectedly having to move out of our previous property, I walked into Emma Hatton for some advice on finding somewhere else to rent. They listened and gave me their time and were so helpful. Within days they had helped me and my partner find somewhere else to live and honestly took such a weight of stress off us. They have been nothing but kind, helpful and empathetic and I couldn’t rate them enough. Thanks so much, especially to Jean for your amazing help and Simon for being so friendly! Max and Hannah.
We rented via Emma Hatton for several years and it's been a pleasure. There is often focus on the Landlord experience but Simon, Jean and the team really do care about their tenants too! Always on hand, clear feedback and communication and when there were things we needed sorting, they were just sorted with minimal fuss. Thanks everyone!
Emma Hatton has repeatedly shown a lack of care for tenants' health and wellbeing, knowingly renting out property that is unfit for habitation and then refusing to do anything to fix the problem. On top of blaming clients for severe black mould and condensation problems that have been leaving tenants with serious medical problems, their letting agent Simon has a history of intimidating tenants who dare to ask questions about it. Even if Emma Hatton has agreed to pay small amounts of compensation for renting out unliveable properties, they will refuse to actually make the payment, delaying small payments of under £300 while collecting many times that amount in rent. There are landlords up and down the country, many of which have fewer resources, that don't abandon their clients to live in black mould hotboxes for months on end, lease filthy properties during the height of the pandemic, and bully anyone complaining about it. I would recommend choosing one of these landlords capable of meeting their bare minimum responsibilities. Do not use a slumlord like Emma Hatton.
Very disappointing. They have let the agent to leave a friend of mine live in property with condensation levels so high that bedding felt wet every night in the winter. On top of that they tried to blame the tenant for the mould and condensation that was pre-existing before they moved in. Emma Hatton also protected the greedy and unethical landlord who refused to reimburse the tenant properly for the 3 months that their property was not fit to live in. Letting agent came to see mould growth next to bed head he recommended not to sleep near it but the issue was not resolved. They ignored the complaints even when it was worsening the tenants asthma and allergies. To fix the issue Emma Hatton provided a dehumidifier that had mould growing inside it. Additionally the staff aren't very nice the receptionist according to tenants and my friends were rude and would gets snappy even when answering basic questions. They have intimidated tenants in the past and overall a toxic environment. Slow and irresponsive to tenants, exhausting to deal with these estate agents, avoid at all costs
Horrific letting agent couldn’t even input my email correctly on my deposit return form! Simon especially is a nasty piece of work completely unprofessional and horrrific attitude. Their admin team are careless and can’t even manage the most basic of communication. I was attempted to be pressured into signing a contract and told legally I could not stay on a rolling contract, literally conning people into resigning during a cost of living crisis. I had to get legal advice from citizens advice to verify all the misinformation they were giving me. When I complained on the phone I was told “I have to go” and basically hung up on. Kept money from my deposit for a COMMUNAL bin store? Tenants avoid at all costs!
Do Not Use Emma Hatton ! I am appalled by the treatment of one of their tenants. from blaming them for a mould and condensation issue that existed before they moved in, to then protecting their greedy landlord client, who refused to reimburse tenant properly for 3 months that their property was not fit to live in. Letting agent Simon came to see a yellow and black, slimy mould growth next to bed head in one of their rentals, his only recommendation being not to sleep near to it!!! Simon intimidated an Someone who went to talk to him about a former tenancy and forced her out of the office.Slow and reluctant to respond to valid needs of tenants, exhausting to deal with these estate agents, avoid atall costs.
Really shocked by Emma Hatton's treatment of one of their tenants. They were happy to provide a flat riddled with black mould and repeatedly failed to fix this issue. Not only this, but they also began to blame the tenant, despite the mould existing from the very start of the tenancy! It seems clear from this that Emma Hatton cannot be trusted to provide safe and habitable properties. I will be avoiding them at all costs.
TENANTS, AVOID AT ALL COSTS All the positive reviews here seem to be from renters/landlords whilst conversely negative reviews are primarily from tenants, which speaks volumes. A friend of mine rented a flat which on day 1 had horrific black mould which is a known trigger for her asthma which she reported immediately. Emma Hatton refused to solve the problem in a timely manner and attempted the blame the tenant for this, before refusing to compensate her or engage amicably with her.
