The best dress shoes, hands-down! I purchased a number of shoes from Edward Green, and the staff that worked there are nothing less than awesome. I can honestly say I consider them my good friends now, because they’re so honest, caring, and friendly towards me every time I come in the store. Thank you Anthony, Kate,Phillip, and Robert for all you do!
Walked into Edward Green with excitement thinking to check out boot styles and try a pair. No greeting or welcoming into shop, arrogant and non-friendly attitude. Came across as if they were doing you a favour by answering to your query. When i asked to try on a pair, the gentleman unboxed the shoes, carried them over and just left them down on the floor in front of me along with a shoe horn and just walked away. So i helped myself . Poor and disappointing stuff. If Edward Green want people to spend money on their overly-priced shoes, then the least they can do is loose the arrogant attitude and provide some customer service. I left the store for this very reason and visited Cheaney and C&J down the road who were friendly and assisted with trying/trialling on shoes along with giving good advice.
I was in London last week and was excited about visiting Edward Green Jermyn Street. I was expecting to walk away with a pair of Inverness. Alas from the first moment I entered the store it wasn’t going to happen. The shop was not busy but the staff had no interest in engaging with me at all. Perhaps I looked like a tourist? I was in fact a serious buyer. I ended up buying from Crockett and Jones.
I went to the Jermyn Street store in London recently and ordered a pair of Mushroom Suede Dover Derby shoes from Sergio. Generally people in the shop are helpful although they seem to have a lot of work to do on the computer every time I go into the store. Sergio will take the time to get out shoes for you in the various lasts so that you buy the shoes that are right for you, it helps to plan your time to stay for a while. But I'd already had a good idea of what I wanted having drooled all over the amazing shoes on the Edward Green website which is excellent. They really have it down as a company on presentation and marketing and the shop is very nice with ambient classical music playing in the background and a vacuum cleaned carpet. It's a bit like being at home really. The shoes are themselves great classically crafted in the English style of refinement and using the best tanneries in the world you really feel that a work of art separates you from the pavement. Some of the other staff haven't been so great at presenting the product to the public in comparison with Crockett and Jones who are very keen to put shoes on customers feet as soon as you enter the store in the hope that you never want to take them off! It happened to me in Harrods at the Berluti store an Italian salesman talked me in to trying the shoes and as I walked around I told him that I was not going to give them back to him. He told me I would have to pay £1700.00p! So I did and wore them immediately! My Edward Green shoes however make my cheaper shoes look poor in comparison even though some of them are older. I'll be looking to return to Edward Green again to collect my ordered shoes but be careful not to buy anything else while I'm there.
This is the place to go if you want superb service and, frankly, the best ready to wear shoes money can buy. The shoes are made of the very best leathers, the lasts they are built on fit the best of any make I've tried and so the shoes are very very comfortable. Edward Green manage to pull off a product that is beautiful, stylish and unpretentious all at the same time. Very English shoes with just the right amount of flair and the older they become the better looking they get! The price may seem high to some customers, but they are worth every penny!
Hands-down the best ready-to-wear and made-to-order shoe maker in the world. Maker of quintessential English shoes for both town and country, including the iconic Dover and Chelsea models. Crafted from the finest materials, Edward Green shoes are the only brand of shoe that has never given me a single moment of discomfort, from day one. Other brands rub or pinch until the shoe is broken in, but not Edward Green. The staff in the Jermyn Street store are knowledgable, helpful, and friendly. Living where I do, I don't get to visit often, but when I do it's like visiting old friends. For me, Edward Green represents lasting quality, and expert craftsmanship. Simply the best.
I don't really do reviews, but felt compelled to do so after recently reading a negative review of this store. I have visited this store on two occasions in the last year and while I have not purchased anything yet I hope to soon. Each time I have been met with a pleasant welcome as I entered and never felt less than looked after whilst in the store. On my second visit I was measured and tried a pair of shoes on for size, I explained I was not planning on buying that day but the gentleman still found a good fit for me and I left the store satisfied that I will make a purchase in the near future.
Terrible customer service. Absolutely abysmal and insulting. I left this shop somewhat dismayed and if I did angry, this experience would have made my blood boil! Was in London for the weekend with my son so we took the opportunity to pop in here. He loves his tailored shirts and suits so had been wanting to look at these shoes for quite some time. I certainly wished we hadn't. The customer service was terrible even to the point of being insulting. The sales person that I would very loosely describe as a gentleman based on his gender not his manners or demeanour was terrible and his attitude wasn't at all what I would expect from this sort of establishment. Please note Edward Green this guy is costing you sales and much more importantly reputational damage.
Who said English craftsmanship was dead! These shoes are made in the UK - from start to finish. They are truly marvellous! The shoes really do carry forward the quality of their tradition. I am scarcely able to afford them, but those pairs I have managed to acquire are treasured indeed! I am taken slightly aback by some of the comments regarding service, as I have only encountered friendly and knowledgeable staff here. I am also impressed with the aftercare each pair receives. And I am so glad to see such a great example of British craft businesses in operation. Am happy to pay the extra knowing it is but a small contribution to ongoing quality and the salaries of people based here in the UK. Fantastic shoes!
A pleasant experience. Bought a pair of shoes and had a great tour of some old pair of shoes, seems like the store had a sale going on. Visited on the 15 July and ended up buying a couple of pairs including one on sale. Dreadful experience from a nearby store where we wouldn't be allowed to buy despite coming exactly as the time of closure. EG prices have gone up a lot but helps when they have great staff who know their shoes. I would recommend a visit to their store. They polished my shoes for free!
