Ealing Hospital

Story

Ealing Hospital is a district general NHS hospital, part of London North West Healthcare NHS Trust, located in the Southall district of the London Borough of Ealing, west London, England. It lies on the south side of the Uxbridge Road 8.5 miles west of central London. It sits between Southall town to the west and Hanwell to the east. It is built on land that was once part of Hanwell Asylum, now St. Bernard's Hospital which is run by West London Mental Health (NHS) Trust. The general hospital has around 358 beds.HistoryThere have been various iterations of a hospital on the site since 1869.The present Ealing District Hospital was built in the late 1970s and opened 5 November 1979. Occupying part of St. Bernard's Hospital former grounds, the whole complex was renamed Ealing Hospital. At the same time, the King Edward Memorial was closed along with the nearby Hanwell Cottage Hospital in Green Lane and many of the services provided by the Southall-Norwood Hospital on The Green were transferred to the new hospital. It existed as an independent trust from 1992 to 2014. The adjacent St. Bernard's Hospital regaining its old identity to provide mental health services once more.MergerIn October 2014, as part of a drive towards efficiency savings in the NHS, Ealing Hospital NHS Trust merged with The North West London Hospitals NHS Trust. Ealing Hospital is undergoing a merger process that will see acute services distributed between itself, Northwick Park and St Mark's Hospital, and Central Middlesex Hospital. It is anticipated that there will be a phased removal of acute care services from Ealing Hospital in the medium to long term, with discussions currently ongoing about the closure of maternity services.

Visited here for an appt. Sadly as I’m sure is the case with many places staffing is minimal and lots of computer - self register stands or queues to register to sit down….before being sent from one department to another. Once seen by a Dr, the advice was excellent on treatment required. Details posted below specifically about the parking, signage and Costs. Good to see the machines still taking cash!
Took my wife too Cardiology, what a dream. Staff ; Polite, Friendly, Knowledgeable & clearly understood. Appointment: Dead on time. Treatment: Discrete, Explanatory, Polite, thorough. Follow up Appointment exactly as above. Obviously we keep any Hospital visits to the bare minimum, we have no experience with other departments so cannot comment on them. Thank you Cardiology.
I would like to say a big thank you to Nurse Helen, Pramila and Dr Pal. They were excellent beyond words, understanding and very accommodating. They made me feel at ease and made the appointment bearable. After all no one likes procedures and such appointments but having staff like the above really helps patients, especially those with anxiety. The staff went above and beyond.
Dr Lim and his team were absolutely amazing. Not only did they come across as thoughtful, lovely people but kept me informed, took every care to deal with my pain from a dislocated shoulder and did everything efficiently and thoughtfully. Especially considering how busy the A&E department is they were amazing in what must be incredibly difficult circumstances. I am so grateful for their care towards me and everyone else.
6hr wait, I usually don’t write reviews, but i hope the management can make some changes, i waited 6hrs when i was in extreme pain because of a infection in my throat I hadn’t slept in 2days, waiting that long when your in pain is just is just cruelty, i hope they hire more doctors to reduce the waiting times and focus on improving A&E ,which you should be seen immediate 1 hr max wait for patients . I can’t really blame the receptionists or nurses who try to stay patient when people cant take it anymore, but this is just absurd waiting so long in emergency so be seen or treated. I wish NHS nothing but the best i hope they have enough funding and support to fix the massive issues in our healthcare services.
Non emergency care , take time to treat you At A&E it isn’t an emergency treat you like garbage don’t understand English and get annoyed at you poor care and service . The wait times are absolutely shocking and the hygiene is so atrocious. Worst hospital IVE EVER BEEN TO ! This needs to get evaluated and measures need to change as it’s just a joke at this point . WORST PLACE EVER ! If I could give it 0 stars I would !
This is the worst hospital I have ever been to by far! I went to A&E on a Saturday following a accident at work that left me with a badly bruised big toe. Waited five hours without triage before a doctor called me confused that I hadn't been assessed. They only had one crutch to give me which I had to beg the doctor multiple times to find. He told me to come back during the week if I still couldn't walk properly by then. Came back the following Tuesday as I still couldn't bare weight on it. I explained all this to the lady behind the desk and she booked me in to chat to the triage nurse. After waiting half an hour I was called over. She heard me out and told me to take a seat explaining absolutely nothing so I assumed someone would just come out and give me a crutch. I waited another half hour before I decided this was clearly taking too long and I went back up to her. Before I could even open my mouth she aggressively started telling me to sit down and I couldn't speak to her. I tried to ask her to calm down I just want to know what I'm waiting for. She said one of the doctors would call my name at some point. I asked does that mean I'll be waiting here for hours for a crutch. And she said "you might have to it's up to you........" I tried to ask if there was anywhere else in the hospital I could go to get one and she said "probably not but you can try" and turned back to her computer never to respond again. I then spent the next 20 minutes hobbling around the hospital asking random staff if they knew where I could find one untill one nice man told me to try the fracture clinic. I had to ask several members of staff how to get there as non of them were sure and the signage was very poor. When I finally found it a cleaning lady let me in and tried to say there was nobody there. I when I asked if she could look for one, she walked away and conveniently found a doctor who after hearing me out went to go look for me. He could only find child size crutches with the largest being one or two inches to short for me. I took it and decided to cut my losses and later swapped parts with the crutch I already to get it closer to the height I needed. Never in my whole life has a hospital forced me to wander the halls asking random people for help like this. It was completely humiliating. If you're dying then sure, go here but if at all possible go ANYWHERE else. The treatment I received was horrible.....
Overall Ealing did a wonderful prescription for my asthma attack I had, with a blue inhaler 20 puffs, and some vanilla supplements. But, they didn't use the nebulizer, I don't know why, but I should have had that, because therefore, I wouldn't get still the same asthmatic symptoms, but good doctors, but the waiting time, it was 2 hours, and I was so bored that I had to use my phone. One more positive thing, is that, I really appreciate the good quality WiFi, and the good quality highly trained doctors.
Doctors are amazing but the lady specially a white lady at reception at night was absolutely disgrace to the profession where you are employed to be caring but she was rude and racist. I felt she was very rude and ignorant to Black and Asian people. Hope God see people like her who have zero compassion for people who are in pain and in need.
I was offered an appointment by the 111here at Urgent Care at 1:20pm today. Well, it's 4:14 pm and I was not seen yet. About an hour ago, we're told to go to Sunrise GP because they were giving face to face appointment. Around 4pm I went to the lady in the reception and I was going to ask her if my appointment was still very delayed. Well, I didn't get the chance to ask because the lady told me wait! Wait? I was the only one in the queue and I just said Hi, I have an appointment. When returning to my seat, I thought aloud and said charming lady. I got a few nodes. Question : what's the point of being offered an appointment by the 111?
